Michael Jackson's London shows set for Tube trouble

Closures mean fans may struggle to get to star's comeback shows

Some of Michael Jackson's forthcoming dates at the London O2 Arena are set to be affected by a closed London Underground tube line.

Improvement works mean that fans who were planning to travel on shows on July 18, 24 and 26 and August 1 and 30, will have to rethink their travel arrangements.

Station closures on the Jubilee Line mean that North Greenwich, the stop nearest to the venue, will be shut on the above dates in order for the line to be upgraded. See Transport for London for more details.

Michael Jackson's residency starts on July 13, after the original start date for the residency was put back from July 8.

Some ticket-holders have set up a petition to try and persuade promoters to reinstate the original schedule, as some of the July dates were put back until March 2010.

Michael Jackson wants Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity to join him on stage

By Mirror.co.uk 1/06/2009

Michael Jackson was so thrilled at Diversitys win that henow wants them to join him on stage.

The King of Pop wants to see the boys with a view to them dancing in his upcoming This Is It UK shows.

Simon Cowell hinted that talks about the link up had already begun on Saturday night when he said the Britain's Got Talent winners could perform with the Thriller star.

It means they could be dancing alongside Jackson when he begins his nine-month residency at the O2 Arena in East London next month.

A source close to the star said: "Michael has already seen what the boys can do. He was captivated with Susan Boyle so he had an interest in the show.

But when Diversity came up on the outside rail he was mesmerised. Everyone knows Michael's performances are as much about the dancing as they are his music and Diversity would only add to the magic.

They are the hottest thing in the country at the moment, and if everything goes well and Michael takes them on they could be one of the hottest things on the planet."

Choreographer Kenny Ortega, who is putting together the O2Arena show for Jackson, is also keen to see Diversity perform.

But while this might be great news for the 11-strong dance group, it might be a setback for last years BGT runners-up, Jackson tribute act Signature.

The duo dancers Suleman Mizra, 30, and 35-year-old Madhu Singh had previously been hotly tipped to perform in the This Is It shows.

Cocker 'not proud' of Jackson invasion
Monday, June 1 2009, 8:13am EDT
By David Balls, Music Reporter

Jarvis Cocker has admitted that he regrets invading the stage during Michael Jackson's 1996 Brit Awards performance.

The former Pulp frontman was physically removed by security after disrupting Jackson's performance of 'Earth Song' at the annual music event.

"That one action transported me to a kind of tabloid fame, which I couldn't have imagined. My whole set of values had nothing to do with that kind of tabloidy thing. It took me a long time to work through," he told Spin.

Cocker claimed that the extensive tabloid newspaper coverage of his action drew the public focus away from the group's musical credentials.

"I just pushed it too far with that thing, because it wasn't, 'Jarvis Cocker played an amazing song at the Brit Awards last night'. It was, 'Jarvis Cocker titted about at the Brit Awards last night'.

"I had been in a band 15 years, and in 15 seconds, I became more well known. All that bloody work! Thrown away!"

Cocker released his second solo album Further Complications on May 18.

Jackson 'wants Diversity for O2 shows'

Michael Jackson reportedly wants Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity to perform at his upcoming London shows.

According to The Mirror, the 'Thriller' star was "mesmerised" by the dance troupe and is now eager for them to join him on stage when he begins his sold-out residency.

"Everyone knows Michael's performances are as much about the dancing as they are his music and Diversity would only add to the magic," said an insider.

"They are the hottest thing in the country at the moment, and if everything goes well and Michael takes them on they could be one of the hottest things on the planet."

Jackson is scheduled to begin his nine-month 'This Is It' stint at the O2 arena next month, after postponing the original four dates of the tour to allow for extra rehearsal time.

^ eek The madness continues?! Is that a new pic?

http://www.showbiz411.com...imes-wrong

Re the Friedman piece posted at the end of the last thread... I'm not sure how people would see it as defending Mike. "...The yawning gap between Jackson and solvency grows every day" is hardly a compliment! But it's quite an accurate assessment, as far as I can tell.

As far as his much-vaunted stake in the ATV catalog, it has been used as collateral for loans totalling (by Roger's calculation at least) some $400 million. Whatever Mike makes in London will help keep his cashflow up, but it won't let him pay off his debt. Oh well, if the US gov't can rack up trillions in debt that prolly won't ever be paid back, so can Mike I guess! razz

Akon: 'Jackson will lip sync live'

(Sunday May 31, 2009 08:30 AM)

Akon has disappointed scores of fans who have splashed out on tickets for Michael Jackson's comeback concerts by insisting the King of Pop won't be singing live.

The R&B star, who has previously collaborated with the Thriller hitmaker, admits Jackson won't be showing off his vocals during This Is It, his upcoming seven-month London residency, and will instead rely on a pre-recorded track.

He says, "Michael singing I'm not so sure about. He will perform but not sing."

But Akon maintains audiences at the O2 Arena will still be thrilled by the spectacular show Jackson is planning: "It's going to be amazing, I can definitely tell you that. I'm going to have front row tickets. I will have the best tickets in the house and will be so close to the stage you will think that I am on it."

Jackson is scheduled to kick off This Is It in July.

My answer to that is:

First of all I'd like to say that I'm a big fan of MJ.

But hey ! People wake up & be realistic... Michael can not sing anymore certain song without using the Lip Sync... that's a fact !

All the songs using his "Chest Voice" on a hight tone
...like for example:

"Rock With You" - "Off The Wall" - "Thriller" - "Billie Jean" - "The Way You Make Me Feel" - "Another Part Of Me" - "In The Closet"(Exept the speaking verse) - "Black or White" - "Scream" - "They Don't Care About Us" - "Blood on the Dance Floor"...

Just to name a few...

So what can he sing today without using lip synching ?

All the songs using his "Head Voice" like:

"Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" - "Workin' Day And Night" - "She's Out Of My Life" - "Heal The World"(But I still don't understand why he's always lip synching on this one !) - "Childhood" - "Speechless"...

& All the songs using a mixed register Head Voice/Chest Voice on a low tone,
like:

"Human Nature" - "Speed Demon" - "2000 Watts" - "Don't Walk Away"...

Anyway people have to be realistic... this man is only a human & he is 51 not 15... so... c'est la vie !

I wonder if he's able to still sing that song though- considering he hasn't done Man in the Mirror live in ages either.

He has never even attempted to do Dirty Diana ever since 1988.

I would love to see him do Man in the Mirror and Dirty Diana- those are my favorites, but it has always bothered me that he didn't do those songs live anymore sad

Michael Jackson's 50 gig fury

MICHAEL JACKSON has told fans he is fuming with concert promoters for booking 50 shows in London.

The Thriller star told fans outside his LA dance studio he wanted to take his live extravaganza across the globe - and only perform a handful of gigs at the O2.

But he didn't get his wish, and a deal was struck for Jacko's monster 50-date residency after the initial block of 10 he'd agreed to sold out.

He claims he only learned of the extra 40 bookings when he awoke to the news one morning.

The ailing King Of Pop is now panicking he's not physically strong enough to cope with the gruelling schedule, insisting his small appetite makes it hard for him to perform.

After practicing his moves at the Burbank Studios, Jacko, 50, greeted devoted fans waiting outside - and blew off some steam in the process.

He said: "Thank you for your love and support, I want you guys to know I love you very much.

"I don't know how I'm going to do 50 shows. I'm not a big eater - I need to put some weight on.

"I'm really angry with them booking me up to do 50 shows. I only wanted to do 10, and take the tour around the world to other cities, not 50 in one place.

"I went to bed knowing I sold 10 dates, and woke up to the news I was booked to do 50."

Last month, Jacko had 80,000 fans up in arms after the opening dates of his residency were delayed.

The concerts were due to kick off on July 8 but the opening night has been pushed back five days, with the others now scheduled for March.

Last week it emerged Jackson may have to axe more dates as he continues his battle with skin cancer.
