I used to think she was 'cute' - I thought she had nice legs ("I Don't Wanna Cry" video) and pretty hair, but I thought she seemed really shy and unsure of herself.

Then I thought she was really, really pretty on MTV Unplugged. Her eyelashes looked amazing (silly thing to say, but they did) - and I liked her vibe and her mood, which, to me, makes a person more attractive.

She still looked pretty and sweet during her "Music Box" and "Daydream" days; the "Fantasy" video was a bit sexy but still more apple pie than cheesecake.

I remember seeing her interviewed on MTV on the set of her "Fantasy" video and she seemed nice enough, but more conscious of herself than I'd see in prior interviews. She seemed quite aware of the camera, for example.

Then came "Butterfly." Oh, boy. Sure, she looked hot in the video, but looking hot in a video is one thing; wearing those outfits and posturing while going to the store or being interviewed in your living room is an entirely different matter.

During her "Butterfly" and "Rainbow" days she looked good, but cheap. And I'm sure her 'cheap' cost a whole lotta money. It's like she flipped a tramp siwtch and then couldn't flip it back. You can look good in jeans and a t-shirt; you don't have to wear Daisy Dukes and bikini tops All. The. Time.

She gets so close sometimes - she'll wear a beautiful, tasteful outfit, but then she'll pair it with ridiculously ostentatious accessories.

I'm glad that she seems to have conquered some of her shyness, but sometimes I wonder if her self-assuredness is an act. I like confidence, but there's confidence, and then there's desperation. Mariah seems so set on proving her sexiness to the masses that her very attempts to do so negate it entirely.
