Well, we always knew he wanted to be a black cat anyway, just not so literally. lol

BlaqueKnight, I have to say that 99.999% of the time I agree with you, but this is that 0.1% that I have to respectfully disagree.

For me, the beginning of the end for Ciara was when they kept trying to market her as the next Aaliyah after her tragic death. Then, she went and did this nonsense that is extreme even by Maxim/Blender standards:

Why?!?!? For what reason was this photo spread even remotely necessary? There's a fine line between sexy and slutty and she's teetering on it with the photos in that issue. I still don't see the reason she felt the need to be completely naked in Vibe (King...maybe; but Vibe? disbelief ). I really hope that she isn't upset when people see her more for her sexy image than for the music she makes, which seems to be the case more and more with many female artists nowadays. Why anyone wants to be seen as just another pretty face with nice curves instead of a real talented artist is something I don't think I'll ever fully understand.

I just don't understand why female artists feel the need to have to lower themselves to this just to get attention. If the music is good, than how an they look should just be an additional perk. Maybe I don't get it because like James said, "It's a Man's World", because why would a woman really care about seeing another woman parade around half-naked when they can do that for free in front of their mirrors at home. confuse It's like the images of female artists are being marketed to men which is weird to me, because I don't know to many guys who are going to be jammin' Ciara like that...now they may be doing nasty things to that Vibe issue, but I doubt they will be buying the album as mood music while doing these 'safe sex' procedures.

I can't blame Justin for this photo shoot, just like I can't blame him for many other things listed.

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson - does a song with Timberlake - can't give away his CDs

50 did alot of songs with other artists on that album from what I remember, so I can't really blame just Justin, plus, the song he did with Justin and Timbaland {"Ayo"} is actually not all that bad and didn't completely flop from what I remember.

Rihanna - does a song with Timberlake...we all know this one...

'Rehab' was doing pretty good before Rihanna got beat down by Chris Brown. Her taking Chris back soo shortly after he jacked her up is what's really hurting her career...let's be fair now.

T.I. did a song with Timberlake - gun scandal.

'My Love' was a huge hit for both Justin and T.I. and T.I. has admitted that he brought all those problems on himself in more than one interview and on his show, "Road to Redemption" on MTV. He knew he shouldn't have been packing guns because he had priors on him, so his gun scandal is really his fault...everyone should be held accountable for their own bad decisions and he's fully aware that he screwed himself on this one.

The only one that I agree with is Janet, but I can only half agree with it, because from many stories I heard, it was a last minute decision made by Janet and that Justin was dumb enough to agree to do. Personally, I'm more mad at the media for blowing up the whole 2 second nipple slip..it was two seconds; I'd seen longer nipple slips during red carpet events. They both apologized and I still don't know why they did, because the same people bitching about the incident were probably the some ones who allowed their precious innocent youngsters to watch Kid Rock wearing the American flag like a poncho and hurling swear words, Diddy groping all his female dancers, and Nelly grabbing his crotch all prior to the nipple slip, so I really didn't get the double standard there...still don't.

I think people were just hating on Michael at this time (his trial was still in progress if I remember correctly) and this incident gave them another Jackson to hurl their animosities at. That whole half-time show was over-sexed and lewd from the beginning and not a single one of these guys stuck up for Janet either, so I can't just blame Justin for not backing her when she didn't get backed by any of them. They all allowed her to take the fall for a production that was not kid-friendly at any point. I love Janet to death, but her lack of success nowadays is more because she keeps allowing Jermaine Dupri to fuck up her songs (ain't no love that deep, JJ...dump the troll). "Damita Jo" was a weak follow-up to "All for You" and doesn't even come close to the level of "Velvet Rope", but that's just my opinion.

He managed to get a Grammy nod with Madonna for "4 minutes" and I still don't see how, because that song was mediocre at best..."Miles Away" is 10 times better than "4 minutes" to me.

Now, had you have talked about Justin's movies, than I would be agreeing with you. The only films he's done that I like are "Black Snake Moan" and "Alpha Dog", but one is based off of true events and all the people are still alive, so he could interview them and get that character down and the other is really out there...music is good though and it's got Sam Jackson in it; 'nough said. "Love Guru" and "Shrek 3" were both absolutely awful, but for lots of reasons, not just because of Justin's presence.

Even though he has his prick moments, he's an intelligent, hard working person who is trying to grow as an artist instead of paying others to do all the difficult parts for him (unlike several of his counterparts who get tons of undeserved praise *cough*Britney*cough* ). If people don't like him for the Janet thing and because he was in a boyband, that's their choice, but be fair and place the blame on the right person.

As for the song, I heard the original that was just him and didn't hate or love it really. It's alright, but nothing amazing. I like her single "Never Ever" way better than "Love Sex Magic" personally, even though it's a altered cover. Video-wise, it's not original at all, but it shows off her dance skills, flexibility, and it's fun and pretty...sexy. I think that she's trying to strike while the whole Rihanna controversy is still ongoing and because many people are getting sick of Beyonce. As long as she doesn't do anymore tacky magazine covers like the Vibe one, she may have a shot at hitting really big this time. Just my twocents

That cover aint even cute. Reminds me of when Toni Braxton stripped long ago. Everyone was like was that even necessary? And it was really troubling because Toni could sing. The cover didnt' go with her classy image at all. But Ciara does have a sort of desperate quality about her so.....this just confirms it. confused

The part about him wanting to be a "black cat" - nosomuch. I do think he wants to "be black" without "being black" but that's for another thread.
I'll be serious for a second. The video is pretty cool; nothing spectacular and nothing terrible. The song: while the track is very "Justin", the VOCAL ARRANGEMENT IS VERY, VERY, VERY JANETESQUE. I honestly don't think Ciara could put up a legitimate argument about trying to become the next Janet as she has done several songs that sound like her.
Now before anyone comments - Yes, I have heard the original (the version Justin did without Ciara). So, I will safely say that Justin AND Ciara bit off Janet's style. I'm not putting it all on Ciara with this song, although it stands to reason that if you have multiple songs that sound like another artist's work, than you are influenced heavily by that artist. Justin and Ciara are both swagger jackers. Ciara is desperate. I'm sure her label is on her ass like Billy was on The Kid in Purple Rain.

i dont know what the uproar is really??? I think too many people are over-reacting. once again acting like a bunch of females with your own agendas. a little jealous? i like to think of it more as a performance piece, with the contortions and playfulness. the imagery and presentation was edgy, incorporating a lot of light, shapes and colour. it was risque but tasteful. very Brigitte Bardot-ish =its no coincidence that the inspiration came from the cabaret show "Crazy Horse Paris". The video really solidfied the electro-pop feel and wave nuances of the record. The direction was impeccable. This was after all another Diane Martel colloboration - yeah a female directing. You cannot fault Cici for her work ethic or vision. She killed it with the songs she’s leaked thus far. Go Girl was totally underrated - i have a new found appreciation for that joint - Never Ever had good staying power and this track solidifies the hard work. People forget that she is playing a character after all - Super C - a heightened sexualised agressive provocateur - who is the premise for the new album. That whole B did it before shit is played out, Beyonce fans need to shut up. If B can justify herself with Sascha, M-Dolla, Esther and Dita can substitute for Madge, whats the big deal. If anyone is a slut, its justin for groping and grabbing her ass. Even after the Janet fiasco, you’d think he know better. People are so quick to forget.

....uproar?

It's a motherfucking Ciara video.

Jesus.

It's boring, unoriginal and the song is LAME.

JT's lack of interest makes Ciara look like she's trying way too hard.

Bad.

She should've stuck with the look and sound she had for the Promise video.

pfft sounds like someone just got off the hater train. a little jealous? now whos over-reacting?

Its a sexy video. Ciara is gorgeous.

What got me thinking is how long can Justin play this role, I'm more concerned about him.
How long can a man play this modern disco music shaking his ass before he starts looking completely idiotic.
As soon as the teenage girls loose interest he better take some acting lessons and go the Donnie and Mark Wahlberg route.

Not to say that i don't want to see what happens when he starts looking like Donnie Wahlberg with balding head and a gut shaking his ass. evillol

I suppose they've got more chemistry than Adam Levine and Rihanna. But that ain't saying much. Those two came off like they were both doing solo videos in their own heads. confused

Ciara's cute, but she wants sooooo badly to prove she wasn't born with testicles that she comes off as a silly caricature of a sexy woman. I almost feel sorry for her. And Justin deserves his celebrity as a decent singer and dancer, but... well... Justin is just a decent singer and dancer.

When will folk learn that pretty and/or popular ≠ sexy?

nod I agree with you on the Janet biting and the undercover brotha comments 100%. Once I saw that white afro...whifro? confuse ...back when he was in NSync and then he did those cornrows, I knew he wanted to be the next Jon B/Mark Walberg/etc; but, you like what you like, and Justin likes soul music and wants to emulate it in his own way, so more power to him for doing what makes him happy and trying to learn how to do it on his own unlike some of his fellow artists out now. To me, Janet is one of the most copied artists of this generation...Madonna and of course MJ being two others. From Beyonce to Britney, female artists in recent years that have incorporated excessive choreography and sexy imagery into their videos and stage shows have bitten off of Ms. Jackson in the process, but that's just my opinion. For some oddball reason, very few of them ever seem to mention how Janet has influenced their careers over another artist, even though it's obvious that she has left a lasting imprint on these young women. All these Janet biters getting praised for being weak copies of Ms. Jackson...doesn't make much sense to me; never really did.

Sadly, I don't see the majority of artists out nowadays as being original, so I can't just pick on Ciara and Justin. Originality in the music industry died years ago for me, yet there are people who still think it exists. lol From T-Pain re-introducing that vocoder thing (proper name for it?), Roger did it first in '87 and Blackstreet followed suit in the '90s; to the re-birth of the '80s by soo many artists now; to almost every single rock band sounding the exact same, calling anyone original nowadays really shows one's age IMO. Now, I don't see anything wrong with liking music that's not original, as long as people don't insist on calling it innovative or ground-breaking, because it's not. I remember hearing songs similar to most of what's popular on the radio now back in the late '80s and early '90s...still waiting for someone to bring disco and techno back because it's going to happen; it's just a matter of time.

I don't dislike Ciara, but since her debut, I've always just seen her as a combination of Janet and Aaliyah, which isn't an insult because I love both of these ladies. This may be the album that really launches her into the spotlight and allows her to stay there for a while. She's got the moves, the catchy songs, and the look. I don't really get all the comments about her looking masculine just because she's tall, because supermodels are some huge bitches and nobody ever says they look manly...even though I still think Gisele looks like a dude; definitely not the most beautiful Brazilian girl I've seen, so really don't get her appeal at all. From what I've seen from many of her videos, Ciara can dance better than most of her female counterparts and since dancing is such a big draw nowadays, she's definitely not going in the wrong direction. And I agree with you. I actually like Ciara because she seems to be having fun with her work. For a lot of artists, it seems to be just business and you know they probably wouldn't be doing it if it didn't pay and get them popular.
There is a great deal of formula to today's pop artists. The concept came from Motown. The big difference is that there was still a pretty high bar as far as talent went. Out of the younger pop chicks, I think Ciara is one of the better entertainers, even though she's far from a great vocalist.

I got wind of this song right when it dropped. Not sure how, unless I saw it in the iTunes store on my AppleTV. I went to find the song and listened, loved it, bought the video on iTunes (I had a iTunes gift card for my birthday last month.)

for non-fans:
