'All For You' was no where near the quality of "The Velvet Rope", or even "janet."; and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis did pretty much every song on it. Personally, I think Janet just isn't into it anymore and I can't really blame her. She's been performing on stages since she was like 7 years old and I'm pretty sure that anything done for that length of time can get boring and unfulfilling after a while no matter how much you may love it....when it starts to feel like a job; it's hard to remain interested sometimes. Janet's always seemed like the Jackson who liked having her time away from the spotlight. Hell, she was married for 11 years and nobody knew about it until she got divorced; so she obviously loves her privacy unlike some of her fellow artists who seem to be willing to do whatever it takes to stay in the spotlight. She may not be on the same worldwide success as her brother or Madonna, but I don't think she really cares about worldwide popularity as much as they do. She's no where near the level of media whoring that Madonna is at; and I have to say that's why I still love Janet and have grown tired of Madonna. Media whoring just screams 'desperate' to me; like 'look at me, look at me'...it's just really sad IMO. She just needs to get some real talented people behind her (get rid of Jermaine, Janet) and fall in love with the music again. She's proven that she can shine just as bright as anyone else and last I checked she's still the only female artist to have more than 4 singles hit number one off of a single album...not even the great Madonna has managed to take that away from her. I agree. I have never been a big fan, but did buy Control and Rhythm Nation back in the day soley for Jimmy and Terry's production. They were basically Time albums with Janet singing. My girlfriend loves her so I have heard recent stuff and it sucks imo...she needs to drop the sex-pot stuff and get J&T back pronto. |
