Blondie / Parallel Lines [30th Anniversary Edition] CD+DVD (2008)

On my Holiday wish list:

Blondie's 'Parallel Lines' Reissued In Expanded 30th Anniv. Edition

[ On June 24, 2008 Capitol/EMI released an expanded 30th Anniversary Edition of Blondie's Parallel Lines album, which has sold more than 20 million copies around the world since its 1978 debut.

The commemorative CD/DVD release adds four bonus audio tracks, three classic music videos and a previously unreleased TV performance from the BBC's "Top Of The Pops" to the album's original tracklist, as well as a booklet containing the original album photo session.

Parallel Lines peaked at #6 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart and included Blondie's first #1 hit, "Heart Of Glass," named one of the greatest songs ever by Blender magazine. The iconic album also features the smash hit "One Way Or Another" as well as "Hanging On The Telephone" and "Sunday Girl."

This summer, the legendary New York City icons and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees return to doing what they do best: hitting the road to sold-out performances across the U.S. and Europe on the band's "Parallel Lines 30th Anniversary Tour." Says Blondie's Chris Stein, "We are looking forward to seeing new and old fans out there this summer. We have been doing pretty much the same show for several tours now, and this time we have more rehearsal time than usual and we're going to try to take it a bit further."

Not worth it. Already got the videos on DVD except for the last one. The remixes I can live without. The should have added a live show from this period or something.

Excellent re-issue and packaging. this is why things like cds will always be better than digital downloads, packaging, liner notes,musicians,etc...

I'm happy it's been reissued in a day and age when CD sales are pretty scant.

What Blondie DVDs do you already have?

I remember the Greatest Hits that was released around, ionno, `04 or somethin had a DVD release that was actually just a rip of the Best Of Blondie VHS from the early 80s with all the songs that are on the Best Of Blondie compilation album. I wanted that DVD but actually have not come across it, and with all the music stores closing, the chances are getting slimmer.

I don't have the album at all. And I want the original recording remastered. Not a hits package.

Plus, I like extends and bonus tracks. And for the DVD, I much prefer material from the era it was recorded on DVD [the rarer the better], not newer performances.

I do have the album. Therefore not worth it for me. As for the last part, that's what I meant anyway.

Rapture riders is only one of the 2 mashups I like.

Also Good boys is a remixed version done by Blow-up

What 12" versions? The 12" version of "Heart Of Glass" is the same as the album. That's why the bonus track is the 7" version.

I've tried to play Bonus DVDs with different regions from my import albums and they will not play at all.

Europe and Japan are region 2 if i am not mistaken.

The solution is to buy a region-free dvd player or hack the dvd drive of your pc,

I'd like to get one of those. I play most of my DVDs on my laptop and as soon as I set a region for the first DVD, it sticks.

I don't own any of their albums. So this will be a treat for me this season.

I've heard a lot of these songs already since they're so classic ["One Way or Another," "Heart of Glass," etc].

I had Wild Style on VHS and I used to rewind the scene over and over when Debbie's driving through the South Bronx while Blondie's "Pretty Baby" plays in the film's Non-Diegetic soundtrack.

kidsgrrrl: YES. It's imperative that you see it. It's an early '80s pop cultural snapshot in almost pure, unadulterated form. And it's a hip hop classic.

You can feel the energy of the movement as it was growing @ the time.

Cinnie: We're ---> Eye + Eye. Love that track. Been listening to bad dubs ever since. This deluxe reissue will be so worth it for me.

I'm glad this album is getting the deluxe treatment but honestly I don't know if I want to buy it a thrid time on CD. the 2001 remaster is excellent.
Btw, I recently got the Eat To The Beat CD/DVD which has all the vids from that album, only a few of which are included on Sound & Vision. I highly recommend that one if anyone is looking for blondie clips.

I would be copping it too, except the CD part is I think identical to the remastered one I got... just no DVD, so I'ma cop them videos elsewhere
