If you made all the lyrics positive, it would still be shit hop. It's shit hop because it's slow, dull, and ain't got no hard kick ass instruments on it such as drums and bass.

Obama can't change shit hop. The only one that can change it is God because he's the only one that can put musical talent in people's body, something the shit hoppers don't have. He's also the only one that could force these record companies and radio stations to sign and play real musical acts.

You and your shit hop
Under certain circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer.

Sorry to play the super-cynic role but all one has to do is visit the following post:

According to Forbes Magazine, the rapper/actor, who also snatched the number one position for Forbes’, Hip Hop Cash Kings list, pulled in a hefty $151 million from June 2007 to June 2008.

Now correct me if i'm wrong because the only 50 Cent material I intentionally sat still and listened to was a track an acquaintence co-produced (My Gun Go Off - had no clue what this dude was talking about), but my guess is that he would fall into the non-conscious rapper category.

falloff at my My Gun Go Off

I hope that Obama being out President can inspire our young Black men that they can aspire to be a success in other fields than rap and sports.

I have to agree with you on that.

90% of Curtis Jackson's income NEVER came from any of his career rap albums. Even he admitted to making more money a lot faster in selling drugs in the early years as a struggling rap artist (before Eminem OR Dr. Dre saved his career).

confuse Curtis was still slingin' from June 2007 to June 2008?

In any case, i'm afraid that takes the point I was making to another level entirely.

.....in the early years (before his 4th album, Get Rich Or Die Trying), NOT in 2007-2008!!!! disbelief lol

But within every point of his career, 50 made more money doing something else than making music.

It doesn't have to be rap. Shit hop is music that is stripped of most of it's instruments. The absolute definition of the shit hop sound is those weak sounding drum machines that barely tap. Drum machines like Prince used are fine and also house music drum machines because they pound hard and are funky. Shit hop isn't funky or danceable whatsoever. Shit hop also never get past midtempo. In other words, shit hop is 95% of all mainstream R&B for the last 15 years.

She's the one that helped things get the way they are. She was highly successful with dull adult contemporary crossover shit. After her success, more and more R&B artists popped up like her and flooded the market so much that funk stopped being made. With everything in R&B being so "parent friendly", there was no rebellion in R&B music. Kids love rebellion. Shit hop was able to slip in and fill the rebellion void that was there after funk died. Unlike funk, but like Shitney, shit hop was crossover. It was also cheap. Since crossover and cheap are the main things record companies care about, no one else could get record deals or airplay.

Why would Obama change anything? He ain't got nothing to do with hip-hop. Hip-hop needs to change its damn self.

CORRECTION: A new genre must be invented immediately to defeat hip-hop once and for all.

Just like hip-hop & rock were responsible for killing disco, a new genre must do the same to hip-hop.

Rock coincided with disco-- rock's heyday had come and gone by then-- and both died when hip-hop hit the scene.... but you're right. A new genre will have to "kill" off hip-hop. Or perhaps an older one revisited. hmmm

Hip-hop was a revolution just as rock and jazz were before it. It's probably run its course and we're seeing the transition into something new. Hopefully somebody's in their basement right now cooking up something I probably won't get or like... but the youngsters will and that's what matters. smile
