What are the rarest LPs and/or CDs in your collection?

Well? smile

Some of the rarer stuff I have in my collection include,

Smoke - Risin'

An obscure sweet soul group from Kansas City, Missouri. They released one album in 1976. Probably worth somewhere around 200$

Eddie Hazel - Game Dames And Guitar Thangs

Eddie's solo debut, got it for around 10$, worth a whole lot more lol

The Gap Band - The Gap Band (Tattoo)

The Gap Bands self-titled release on the Tattoo label (not to be confused with their self-titled Mercury album). I've only seen one copy of this album ever in my life (... and I, of course, immediately bought it lol)

The Natural Four - Best Of (CD)

Rare and out of print CD compilation featuring the Natural Four. Good luck trying to find this one lol

Rick James - Bustin' Out Of L Seven (CD)

Rare and out of print CD pressing of Rick's second album. Asking prices on Ebay and Amazon are from 90$ upwards.

The Eight Minutes - An American Family

Rare r&b album released in the early seventies. Mine is in near mint condition smile

Mutiny - Mutiny On The Mamaship (CD)

Rare and out of print Japanese pressing of this great funk album. Amazon has one copy on sale at the moment, the asking price is 328.10$

What rare stuff do you have in your music collection? smile
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Nice examples! Not just because they are rare, but because they kick-ass!

My rarest would probably be Prince - Letitgo on vinyl. It's a promo, white sleeve, with the Dorothy Parker samples. Not really sure if it's rare though. I have never seen another one and rarely hear about it on here, so I guess it could be.

Oh, I also got to mention the Band Of Thieves. I have an original copy of their self-titled 1976 release. There's one on sale on Ebay for around 100$.

Mostly Prince stuff:

The Undertaker original CD
Gett Off (damn near 10 minutes) 12"
Sexy Dancer U.K. 12"
Soft And Wet U.S. 12"
Mazarati Japanese CD
Apollonia 6 Japanese CD
Hell, I have almost all of the Paisley Park associated artists albums on CD.

And an original Grey Album CD by Dangermouse (not a copy with the caricatures on the cover). Those were hard to come by for awhile.

I have a German gold-disc edition of 'Around The World In A Day' that is a worth about £150-£200. I got it for about £5 smile

I also have the CD maxi-single of Tupac's "Keep Ya Head Up" which is also very hard to come by. I paid damn near £100 for it.

Yeah, I didn't own the album at all at that time. I figured, instead of going to the mainstream record store and picking it up, I'd check out this little independant store down a side street where I'd previously gotten a couple of cool things like the CD single for "Letitgo".

Anyway, I didn't know it was any different until one day I saw a discussion on either here or Housequake regarding a rare German gold-disc edition. In my head I thought "I swear my disc is gold!"....so I looked up the catalogue number for this version and it matched. I was pleased as hell!

That's only rare if the vinyl is gold/yellow. Is it?

I've only seen it with gold vinyl. I don't know if it was pressed with regular vinyl.

I just checked on ebay and almost all of 2pac's singles are going between $20 and $80. I didn't know he was that valuable.

doubt i have anything that is considered rare though i dunno if i would know if i did lol

Dangerous album (has a promo sticker on it though nothing appears different on it)
Invincible
Blood on the Dance floor
HIStory
i also have a couple of other MJ records which have promo sticks one is a older jackson 5 single though i cant think what the hell it is at the moment and cant be bothered to dig it out and the other is remixed versions of in the closet

umm i have a few Prince singles but doubt any are rare such as
Sign of the Times 12 inch (single)
Raspberry Beret 12 inch
America 12 inch

the only thing i know which i have which a record guy at a bootsale was pissed at me for picking up before him is a Doctor Who record which is apparently unusual because it is on blue vinyal

tbh i wouldnt know rare if it was sat right in front of me i just buy what i like and considering i have never spent more than £1 on a record so far i am not that fussed lol

This question is pretty strange if you buy mostly music produced in the marginal genres where the pressings are usually in the 200-500 copies range...
