The Beatles remasters due next year.

Important information revealed includes; all the albums, including Yellow Submarine, Magical Mystery Tour and the Past Masters sets have been remastered.
Rubber Soul and Revolver will have three different mixes available, mono, original stereo and the 1987 stereo rebalances.
There will be no 5.1 mixes of any of the tracks.

Original recording equipment has been located and used for the project and the bass sound that the original cutting engineers reduced has been restored.

Expected release date is now off the record set as 2009, "Apple/EMI are not going to bodge the packaging for the sake of a bumper Christmas."

Very cool. The music will sound even better, if that's possible.

Finally. But I'm afraid they will super-mega-maxi priced because those old shitty sounding CDs are still very expensive.

Good point. I still see those in the, like, $26 dollar range.

Hopefully we'll see those come down in price to clear out that stock before the remasters come out.

The way these are described, though, with all the alternate mixes, makes them sound like friggen boxsets. The 2-cd 1990s Anthology 1 2 and 3 I still see for around $33.

Anxiety

these will be yummy, though i have no idea which version is preferable. shrug

i still need to catch up and get the first two remaster box sets, especially since i think those are the only beatles albums i don't have.

i always get sad when i hear about albums getting remastered, because it makes me think of all the albums i love that are criminally overdue for the remaster treatment...

...i'm not talking about THESE albums, though i'm sure they're a lot more deserving than a lot of the FLUFF out there...

I think we all know this this means. 99% sure that the Beatles will be on Itunes when these albums come out. They'll be the last big hold out, no?

The individual bandmembers' tracks are already on there. The Beatles estate had said that they won't distribute digitally until the remaster.

As much as I love the Beatles, I just can't justify rushing out and buying these as soon as they're available. I'll get them whenever I get around to it, but it certainly won't be a priority. Of course, I'll certainly preview them...

U can almost BET that the Beatles are gonna fight the whole "buying one track" thing, or at least getting a bigger cut than everyone else does at this point, which on average is about a nickel.

But as far as remasters, this is long overdue, there albums are way out of date and need to be reworked, with artwork and everything, so DIGITAL doesnt give you that option, im not downloading a book to have on my iPod that i need a magnifying glass to see

For an example of how the albums will sound, listen to the Love CD (the soundtrack for the Cirque du Soleil show). It's insane how much better it sounds -- fuller, crisper, fresher, etc.

They might push for the "album only" approach, we'll see. I for one don't see any point of downloading a remastered album in lossy format. I'll buy the CDs (and, maybe, the LPs) and just rip them myself.

So which one to get? Mono, Stereo, or 1987 Stereo? Too many choices ...
