Are MJ fans jealous of Janet? Yes I took it there.
She's putting out new music, shes going on tour, she's still relevant and does more for her fans whilst MJ ain't doing shit, keeps releasing compilation albums with the same songs, and his only public appearances are to accept more legend awards. talk amongst yourselves  White Americans, what? Why in the world would they be jealous of Janet? What reason would there be? I think Prince said it best. When asked about Michael, Prince said "genius". Lol, why are you always saying that MJ fans are jealous of Janet? WHAT IS THERE TO BE JEALOUS OF? Lets be serious here.
This is not the 90's where Janet was riding high and her career was in full upswing and was the media darling. Her career was in better shape than Michael's back then, but not anymore. I always get the feeling though that some Janet fans are bitter that no matter how big she is and how successful she's been, she will always be in MJ's shadow. Even Michael with all his drama is still WAY more respected as an artist, considered to be more talented by the majority and has had a bigger impact on pop culture than Janet ever has, so what's to be jealous of really? It aint like her career is anything to brag about right now. I like Janet's music, but get real. Janet is NOT relevant these days really. Mike is more relevant than her any day of the week. Just turn on the radio or tv, who are a lot of these artists imitating and sampling? I get the feeling that MJ fans are more jealous of Prince & Madonna actually b/c they are actually successful and critically acclaimed, but Janet? Nah, most of them love and support her. i don't think so. MJ has a bigger impact on pop culture today because of what he brought to the table, to the mainstream first: choreography, music videos, big concerts. I think Janet witnessed what MJ did, and built her career from that, making it her own. [Edited 5/22/08 11:29am] | |

Nicely said. You know, in the 90´s in the "janet" era, I loved her, but since than she hasn´t released one single album that I would care about. And even though she is releasing and doing whatever, over here in Europe, I don´t get to see her at all. I think there´s still more in the papers about Mike than Janet. I´ve came across more articles about Thriller 25 re-release than Janet´s Discipline. I don't think anyone got the grasp of my topic, lol. Despite post-2004 syndrome in regards to Janet's career, what has Michael been doing for fans to enjoy? What is he doing? It doesn't matter how much or how less Discipline sold, she's releasing music for her fans, she's going on tour, she's performing on television, etc. I'm not asking who is more talented, who has made a bigger impact, blah blah blah, thats already a given. We all know he's a legend, we all know he's outsold and done just about everything there is to be done, yada yada yada oh em gee. But it was HE who nearly singlehandedly let his image and personal life take over his name (and not in a good way) dired his reputation -- don't tell me the first thing you think of when you hear the name 'Michael Jackson' isn't you-know-what just by subconscious default?

MJ fans hold him to the highest regard of any artist. If you look at his worldwide stats he beats out his lil sis in every way. I love them both, but I'm overall partial to Janet. However, if Michael were putting out records every two years as she has been and still doing performances on TV and such, then it may be even for me. I think MJ fans are just jealous of JJ's fans getting more output. But they always have the 25 different versions of "Thriller" to fawn over at any given moment. [Edited 5/22/08 16:21pm] I find it extremely hard to believe that Janet would have come up with the concept of dance, videos and big concert productions without the influence of her brother. does that mean she has not made a legacy for herself, ofcourse not, but she saw the impact it did for her brother and she took it and ran with it, and did it well, in addition to being paired up with the mastery of jj and tl at the time. Are MJ fans jealous of jj. maybe, especially now with janet's much anticipated tour coming up, i would be quite frustrated waiting for new music or tour and continuing to get nothing. | |
