When did Michael Bolton become a guilty pleasure / uncool?

So I've been jammin to "Love is a Wonderful Thing" and while I'm by no means, a diehard fan, I think the guy has talent. When did he go out of style and become "uncool?" When did he become an artist who was mostly viewed as a "guilty pleasure?" Was it the movie Office Space? Or was it long before that?

I mean, sure he kinda LOOKS silly, he is talented. Why is he so uncool/guilty pleasure? Am I missing something?

I don't think there's a word that truly describes how much he sucks, has always sucked, and will always suck. And really the only people that ever liked him were suburban housewives. I guess it was because he was like a real-life, singing, balding version of all of the pirates in those diddle novels they love to read.

Geez, you must lose your mind over Engelbert Humperdink. lol
And to answer your question, probably around the time Mr. Bolton's sperm collided with Mrs. Bolton's egg. That's when the guilty pleasure/ uncool vibe started for Michael Bolton. IMO

The same fuckers that liked this bald mullet bitch were the same fuckers that cried the day the network yanked that awful Linda Hamilton/Ron Perlman Beauty & The Beast show off the air and cried that the best Vincent was so loving and sexy even though he wasn't really human. Basically, your average lonely spinster/knitter/homebody/elastic waistband wearer. Which is pretty much me, so I don't know why I never got into him

I've pretty much detested his "singing" (and I use the term loosely) ever since I first heard him. Come to think of it, he may have had hits, but he was never really considered "cool". Jim Carey, when he was on In Living Color, was mocking him pretty much from the get-go. He's a ginormous dork who sounds like he's trying to pass a bowling ball out his anus when he "sings" (it really isn't singing. It's more like melodic grunting), and has been from the beginning.

In my mind, he is part of the unholy trininty of the patron saints of suckage (the other two being Kenny G and Celine). My three least favorite "artists", ever!

he has one of the worst moments in music ever on his dirge-fest 'how can we be lovers when we cant be friends' when he roars ''WE CAN WORK IT OUT''....sounds like a slogan for a constipation pill, and by the way it sounds, he sounds like he hasnt had a dump for weeks ! biggrin

I'm amazed to see a sentence with pleasure and Mr. Bolton in it. I knew theoretically it could exist but . . . .
He's always sucked to me and nothing would make me turn a radio faster.
I have a 60 gig I-Pod and I could fill it and never miss Mr. Bolton.
I'd miss Lionel Richie as a soloist first.

Hey, people tried to dig him along with a world with Yanni and John Tesh in it.

And new coke. And .... hell, what else?

Anyway, they tried but they realized it was.... a fools game.

Some of his songs I liked like "Back On My Feet Again" and "Time Love and Tenderness" thanks to Diane Warren.

But those Soul/R and B remakes didn't seem right.

And that Isley situation wasn't kewl. (Note to Mr. Biggs: When you win a lawsuit pay Uncle Sam. There's nothing sexy about a man from the IRS calling you singing "Here We Go Again".)

http://www.youtube.com/wa...b9yG7XO-Ds

I would try to think of a positive way to use his music.

"Mr Cranshaw your wisdom teeth are impacted pretty deep so we are going to have to really dig in there. You will be given something to numb your mouth but you will feel the drill a little bit.

We are going to put on "Michael Bolton's Greatest Hits". Do you know who Michael Bolton is? He sings a lot of the old great soul music. You'll like him.

Each time you feel a little discomfort I want you to scream when you hear Michael hit a high note. OK?
