THE 3 DIVAS: JANET, MARIAH & MADONNA: WHO WON THE WAR?

In the last 2 months, we've seen new releases from Janet Jackson with Discipline, Mariah Carey with E=MC2 and yesterday, we got a new one from Madonna with Hard Candy. Out of the 3, which one of these divas made the best CD? If you don't think any of them made the best CD, then name a Diva who did. The answer can be as long or short as you want it to be and this is all based on CD's that have come out in 2008.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

madonna's album was the best in my opinion.

While Janet is a runner up. The lack of personality and a so-so ending and the push of sex with no commentary on why from Janet really is what makes Discipline not stable to me. It was more listenable than 20 YO, some of Damita Jo and All 4 U however...she didnt rite none of the songs and its clearly heard in the songs SHE is not present. ***1/2

Mariah's album is very teen contemporary. Which isnt too much of my taste. She has done alot more adult music and that's is what I tend to like from her. This time around she lost me with too many slow tracks that sound the same...and hardly any experimentation...a la Emancipation of Mimi...or even Butterfly. **

Madonna pushes the envelope again and SMEARS her personality all over this record. It s commanding and demanding, and best of all, funky upbeat and there are alot of Old School moments. Timbaland and especially Pharrell do go in2 experimentation mode and almost sound that they are a great couple when paired two great producers on one album (both of whom have worked together in a group in the past). ****

lmao @ yall calling madonna a diva, a legend who is past her prime yeah but in no way is she a diva. her new album showcases that she truly has sold out. she tries so hard...she sounds like a screeching cat on all of the tracks and the lyrics are intrepid attempt at staying relevant. the music is contradictory to what she believes in and money talks. she doesnt ride timobo or pharell's beats well at all. cd is average.

Madonna has and always will be the definition of sell out your point is moot.

in the end Madonna wins. her single has sold better than both of the other two. it's been number 1 in more countires and her album will top the charts in more countries.

T/A, the chase for album sales among 3 aging female superstars is most DEFINITELY a conflict among them as "brands" moreso than "artists." It is as much a hostile brand competition as Coke v. Pepsi v. Starbucks. And such competitions can be ugly to watch up close.

I thought this thread was about who has the best cd of the 3, meaning quality, not quantity.

Madonna. Definitely Madonna.

She'll be long after remembered above all the other ones. Compared to the others, she's truly the iconic one.

Shame too cause her albums consistently suck minus 4 of them lol, and Mariah is the only one on the list with any true singing talent.

MARIAH by far, because its a great album, just good music.

Janet comes second could have been better but shes changed now. (Jimmy & Terry she needs you)

Madonna, are you serious. lol

Overall sales, in the USA will be Mariah, mainly for the "simplicity" of the songs and the "IT" factor of the guests, and the fact that UNIVERSAL paid to have it everywhere 24/7, though they missed their week 1 goal by alot.

Interesting wise, Madonna, though im not liking timbaland or lake, Madonna has always been the more interesting artist

And Janet was better than before but her "rut" continues.

IMO

Mariah Carey E=MC2 **1/2*
Madonna Hard Candy ***
Janet Jackson Discipline **

I think Madonna has gotten the best reviews. It's almost too early to say how good Hard Candy will do. I think it might top the last one in terms of sales.

I have heard smatterings of Janet's and I only like a few. I refuse to listen to Mariah...I have never liked her.

Who won the war? None of them IMO. They have all made albums that sound just like all the other shit on the radio now. Nothing new, nothing innovative, nothing amazing, and nothing worthy of being called Divas this time around IMO. It's like they are all copying the younger artists who are just weak carbon copies of them...very disturbing. boxed

Now, who beat who is different..... hmmm

Based off of current sales, probably Mariah at this point.

Base off of what's hot and popular right now, I'd go with Madonna because she put almost everybody big in hip-hop and pop on this one...Neptunes, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake....that's all I'm going to say about that.

Janet just made a better album than her last one, so she won this current battle against herself, but that war still rages on unfortunately.

Madonna may be huge in Europe, but Mariah is queen bee over her here in the states. Janet has been in the entertainment business longer than both of them, so I don't think she even cares about these two anymore. She's in love with the chocolate troll and it has clouded her better judgment and silenced her talent....Janet, please get well soon :rose:

The best album by a diva/female artist so far this year IMO, is Erykah Badu's....Shanice doesn't drop her new album until later this year, so this answer is subject to change. wink

Oh jesus... quit talking about sales and charts, the question was, who made the best cd! So far I haven't heard Mariah's cd (I'm not sure if I want too), but between Janet and Madonna I think Janet has won! It's not that Madonna's cd is bad, it's just that Janet's is better! I think though that 4 Minutes is the better lead off single!
