Deniece Williams - "Free"

I love this song, and I especially lovelove this live version of it. She has exceptional control of her voice.

sooooo much
probably as much as the album version

but yeah she looks 8 ft tall LOL

what are some of ya'lls favorite
Niecy tunes?

mines
"The Paper", "If You Don't Believe"
"Turn Around", "Like Magic"
"The Boy I Left Behind", "Sweet Surrender"
and "I Want You" to name a few

"You're All That Matters"
oh GOD...

I love most of her early stuff
before the 80's catastrophe
I mean, all of it wasn't bad
but she had a very neutral period
after that Let's Hear It For The Boy album

both her & Natalie Cole
had that material in the 80's
where you either love it or you hate it LOL
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

I love "Niecy".. and love this song, cool performance.
Those youngster's need to take note's. Don't kill your performance, with a lot of over the top runs, screaming, and unnecessary shouting... Just sing the song.

Wonderful memories from my childhood, hearing this cloud9. My mother was a Denise Williams addict, and all her songs, along with Candi Staton's, would begin playing on our record player promptly every Saturday morning at 11am, while we did house chores lol

lol thumbs up!

I was listening to a collection of Niecy's duets w/Johnny Mathis and really enjoyed their take on You're All I Need to Get By. Though it was a big R&B hit, I'd never heard it.

She's still around. In fact, she won a Grammy last year (or the year before). She focuses on gospel music now.

lol ..."Hey" off topic here, I'm trying to find some Terry Callier from around '73 to '79 or earlier . I know Charles Stepney produced some of his music. I recently heard Sir Duke's "Satin Doll" on an AM station by Terry Callier.

once you get a feel
for her material

I suggest you start with the debut album
and hear all the full albums
up til Let's Hear It For The Boy

you'd enjoy the album tracks a whooole lot
if you're like me...
it's like EW+F albums
(well This Is Niecy and Songbird are)
but only Niecy on lead vocals

sorta like
Stevie is to early Syreeta
Larry G. is to Betty Davis
Saadiq is to Joss Stone's latest

I'ma sucker for musicianship
