See, I'm the opposite. I liked Chico's performance but hated the hell out of Rose Royce's.

I like that female lead singer of Rose Royce (Ricci Benson). She's not the original lead singer (Gwen Dickey),but she's good.In the 90s,she was still touring with Rose Royce and I saw them in concert several times. She is GREAT.Sadly, she doesn't tour with them anymore.

Check tvguide.com for listings in your area. If you have cable, you can see it on WGN on Saturday at 1pm CST (most times). If they don't air it on Saturday, they usually air it Sunday evening/Monday Morning at 3am CST.

AWFUL,AWFUL EPISODE! disbelief

Nearly every song they played was an over-produced,synth heavy,drum-machined piece of late 80s crap barf This episode reminds me of why I despise that period. Most of those songs now sound horribly dated.

Chico DeBarge's performance sucked.Rose Royce was okay, but their material wasn't very impressive.

Come on Don....go back to the 70s or at least the early 80s!

I have this one on tape. I almost choked on my coffee just now, SOULALIVE! lol yeah this episode wasn't good back then either. those Rose Royce songs were horrible, even if the lady tried making them seem good. Donna was cool. There were some episodes that came out around that time that were really really good. A tribute to luther, one for anita, loose ends, jody watley. I hope they get to those.

I didn't know this. I know the people who work with the group. I think I remember them just comming back from a tour around 97. Had she toured with them since then?

That episode wasn't too good. However, Chico Debarge was funny. That sweater/pants contraption was hilarious. I can't wait for the 70s episodes.

What was up with the dude in the costume??...Was it just me or did the lead singer in Rose Royce look a lot like Tichina Arnold from "Martin"?
I will admit that I like looking back at the "80's ladies"..they used to really vamp it up back then (spandex, heels, leotards, lace).

i actually thought she kind of looked like New York rom Flavor of love eek

was it me or did Chico seem nervous? his dance moves were cracking me up too.

I see the vinyl on ebay. I know that album was printed on cd, but I haven't seen it in years.

As for compilations, I don't think you will find Girl Next Door (unless you luck up on it on iTunes). I know that another song from Chico's Motown days is included on the Motown Year by Year 1987 compilation (I don't see one for 1986).

It'll be more the 7, they can include his Motown material and his material after he was released. That should be more then 7 plus they can add strong album cuts.

lol I was thinking the same thing. His dancing was awful! My sister was laughing at his outfit.

I loved his pants and his boots. If his shirt had not been cut off above the naval, I would have loved it too. I love the neckline of the shirt and the strap or whatever the hell it was on it. His outfit was what I love....wild and outrageous.....except for the cut off part. I love that he looked feminine but the cut off part made him look fish. lol

"Baby I've Been Watching You" was another good one. They should release a "Best of Chico DeBarge" from those 80s albums only. Hell, maybe two albums on one CD type thing. Anything besides that 90s/2000 stuff. lol

All I remember hearing from him on the radio after the 80s were over was either midtempo or slow. If he had some jams out, the radio in my area sure didn't play them.

She hasn't toured with them since the late 90s.I saw Rose Royce a few years ago and I was sooooo disappointed. It was just one girl and two guys onstage, singing to a taped recording of instrumental tracks disbelief No band,no horns,no guitar...that's not the Rose Royce that I know and admire!
