Not impressed...but then again, I never have been with Britney. All I see in this clip is her shakin' her ass with a vocal music track in the background! She's more hype than substance! zzz disbelief

She's more like a woman that believes her own hype. Which isn't crazy; growing up famous, believing your own press, dating one of teenage world's most wanted bachelors (back then), then finding your personal life draggedout on the net.

Certainly, it is something she adds to herself, but damn, that swoman must have a silly life.

She's sold over 80 million albums worldwide. I'd say that's a fair amount of hype.

True, if album sales can make you a balanced person, she is the most balanced person in the world.

It does not work like that, though. I hope she levels out, makes funny pop music again and cuts out the crap and be a good mom.

How can you say she looks good when all you can see on that video is a wig and a hat?

Body?

And she doesn't wear wigs anymore, she wears extensions.

I'm sure you have ALL of her albums and have been to many of her concerts while holding up the "I Love U Britney" signs while she lip-sinked her way to your heart!

Her fame and record sale success has been brought and paid for by her record company. She's an investment to them and it's not based on her talent. It was based on her appeal to millions of little girls who wanted to be like her in her videos and young men who wanted to "do" her.

If your girl Britney sells another 80 million, I still won't be impressed! disbelief

Britney Spears does get a ton of hype for someone whose career has been more successful in other European countries than in the United States. She's basically a younger, white version of 1980s/early 1990s Janet Jackson -- save Spears' music wasn't as cutting-edge as Janet's was at comparable ages.

Yes, I agree. However, she has had several great singles (like Madonna during the '80s). She is a good entertainer and has, to her credit, stage presence. She knows how to entertain a crowd. What I like about her is that she does not pretend to be a musician or an amazing artist.

Yeah i agree too, but i do hate the word "comeback" its so overused and the last time it really was used properly was when the Mets won Game 6 of the 1986 world series down to their last strike. That was a comeback. Britney isnt coming back from anything, her last album sold plenty. Im more interested in is she really "there" in her mind, which is what i thought of Mariah in 2003 when she started with her Charmbracelet album, i didnt really care if she sold, but more or less was she even a stable person at that point.

Britney's "meltdowns" were nothing more than publicity stunts to keep her in the tabloid magazines during her down time. If Britney had lived a drama-free life between albums, she would have been forgotten about. No one would have been checking for her

Bad publicity now equals good publicity...DUI's, rehab stints, jail time and sex tapes will get you face time on magazine covers, a reality show, endorsements, etc

Its all for ratngs, the VMA's have had poor ratings every year so they have needed something to save them and here comes Britney who has always saved them in the past. And of course this years other GREAT gimmick of only showing the show once.

Nope. Sorry. Never been to a concert of hers, don't have all her albums. Never made any stupid signs. I just like some of her songs. If you look on youtube there's a series of clips of her performing live, you'd be surprised.

I don't think I will! A lot of people like yourself think that lip-sinking in front of a live audience is consiered a "live" performance. I don't. I even watched the MTV Music Awards to give it a chance and just as I thought, she did not perform live (not to mention the terrible outfit)...but she was not alone! neutral

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Somewhere, Kevin Federline is laughing.

An out-of-shape, out-of-touch Britney Spears delivered what was destined to be the most talked about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards - but for all the wrong reasons.

Kicking off the show Sunday night with her new single, "Gimme More," Spears looked bleary and unprepared, much like her recent tabloid exploits on the streets of Los Angeles. She walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching. And, perhaps most unforgivable given her once-taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape.

Even the celebrity-studded audience seemed bewildered. 50 Cent looked at Spears with a confused expression; Diddy, her new best friend, was expressionless.

And at least one review was in almost immediately. Following Spears's performance, comedian Sarah Silverman offered her sarcastic take. "Was that incredible? Britney Spears, everyone," Silverman said. "Wow. She is amazing. She is 25-years-old and she's already accomplished everything she's going to accomplish in her life. It's mind blowing."

Later, backstage hip-hop star Akon offered his reaction to Spears's performance, telling PEOPLE: "That could have been better. She needed to focus more. She looked nervous and I think the pressure got to her."

Similarly, Common told PEOPLE about Spears: "I think it didn't seem like she wanted to be there. There wasn't any spark, it didn't feel like life was there."

Some comeback.

lol lol lol lol
