No but I wish they would be more influenced by someone who plays instruemnts and never stuck to one style of music.

michael did anything but stick to one style, like a lot of pre-bad fans rant about

I think both of them are very, very influential, but michael way more! There are so many mj wannabes out there right now, year after year too. MJ is influential overall and prince is influential when it comes to music composition. I find myself comparing timbaland stuff to prince at times

Krayzie, you know it's Michael, I know it's Michael, everyone here knows it's Michael...which says nothing about Prince, it just says MJ is more popular. Years from now, who knows?

MJ has been in the game longer, he influenced Prince... I think you just wanna take a dig at the Prince fans, make them admit to something they would rather not
no no no!

Timbaland and Pharrell are definitley inspired by Prince. But u see like Rodney Jerkins, Tone & Poke and them. They have more of a Micahel Jackson sound. Mikes influences have space in between their beats. Timb and Pharell rely alot on syth and different sounds and effects to make their i.e. Prince in his hey day and still as of now.
Michael yes.....mostly stuck to one genere which is r&b. yeah he had some rock songs like Give In2 Me, Privacy, DS, Dirty Diana and stuff. But Mike never touched on rapping (was Bad rapping?) or jazz or country or hard rock. He did some funk but NOT dirty dirty Funk like Prince. Prince is an experimentor. Mike used to lead, but after Invincible just was following. (How dated does "Unbreakable, Invincible and Heartbreaker sound 2dai?)

NO and I do love Mike I DO. he just are not having creative followers who are breaking any mold. I wish people who are influenced by Prince would stop trying to be so Prince like and try to make a commercial hit sometime. It wasnt hard 4 Ne-yo to put the Mike like "Because Of You" and an obvious Prince / Andre Cymone like "Sex WIth My Ex" on the same album.

So we shouldn't be influenced by artist who can't play instruments and who stick to one style.
Well I guess the Temptations were a bad influence on people then?

No I'm saying they could pick up a guitar or get on the drums for a change. Maybe it will help them write their own songs or come up with their own beats. The Temptations are one of the greatest groups of all time.

Do u understand the words that I am typing on this computer?

I kinda wish every artist of every genere do a song that is out of their category or was as flexible as Prince. If Maroon 5 didnt come out with "Makes Me Wonder" with it's 80's pop and funky guitar licks I dont think I wudda paid them any attention again. Even Bjork got my attention with hookin up with Timbaland to make that hott cut "Innocence"

lol u know ur posting this on a prince fansite

but i say Michael because in my opinion from what i've seen singers/dancers almost always mention Michael as as influence and people have been biting his style for years.Prince has influenced some also but Michael is def. more influential smile

u def haven't heard all of michael's albums because his style changes with every album.and michael plays instruments, it's just not his main thing like prince. and if Prince had or does something to WOW(musically) he would have a bigger fan base and be up there with michael also

yeah, well if some invincible stuff sounds outdated, how do you think black sweat or all the crap prince did in the 90's would sound years from now? I can't stomach much of prince's 90's stuff, it's mostly the 70's & 80's stuff I like and some of the recent stuff

I know it's not really street, but mj did experiment with some rap/hip hop sounds, he was rapping in Money and had hip hop sounding beats on dangerous, though I'm not calling him a hip hop artist at all

Madonna!

Hell yeah, I said it. THIS WOMAN has inspired more people (especially women in general) than Michael OR Prince.

.....and it's too damn bad that most of today's female artists that namechecks her are a little worse on vocals (Kylie Minogue, Christina, & Pink THE ONLY real exceptions).

Agreed. MJ, Prince, Janet and Madonna are the big four. It doesn't matter which of them you like or dislike. They're all talented in their own ways and have all made their mark and have had a huge influence on many performers and there's just NO DENYING this. End of story.
