Thanks! (I just wanted you to give a reason in the spirit of the thread)

But you don't hold John responsible for that stuff? He could & should have made those arrangements himself.

I'm sure he didn't expect to die so young and even if he left everything to that witch, that still doesn't mean that she can't do the right thing. She's a greedy whore and I hate her lol And word to my friends, don't even mention her to me cuz I will kill you lol Although JustinUK1972 did make me a wonderful mix with her on it and because I lust, I mean love him so much I overlooked his sin against me just that once smile

lol I'll keep that in mind.

Ultimately I hold him responsible for it, but I hear you, it doesn't mean she couldn't step up and share the (massive) wealth.

That is a lazy man's argument. Should woulda coulda. that whore could have given his heir his rightful share and still been able to lather in so much money. No arguments on her behalf will change my mind lol

You loon! lol

Honestly, her music isn't just "not bad" but it's actually quite good!

I know that the "primal scream music" she's made over the years overshadows everything else, but it'd be like basing your opinion of The Beatles solely on 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer'.

Whenever I play the Double Fantasy album, I'm always struck by how fresh the Yoko songs still sound and how dated the Lennon songs are. Not bad - just dated. Lennon's half of the album sounds like typical 1970s A.O.R. whereas Yoko's half sounds like Shonen Knife, The Rapture, R.E.M., Bjork, Tori Amos and even Cyndi Lauper with her wilful goofiness.

You only have to Google the term Yoko Julian to see that Julian Lennon wasn't barred from his father and stepmother's life. There are dozens of photos showing Yoko, John and Julian at various points in his life.

Here's a picture from the aforementioned Rock & Roll Circus, showing John and Yoko with Julian in attendance.

Yes, she can come across as humourless in interviews - which is odd because a large percentage of her music and art is genuinely funny. You know, you're meant to laugh at a lot of her stuff and she'll be the first to admit it.

Yes, she has milked Lennon's legacy somewhat - especially with that range of John Lennon baby clothes - but is that really any worse than Prince whoring himself out by selling 3121 cologne?

Yes, her early albums with Lennon are quite unenjoyable on a musical level. But even some of the screaming songs are good. 'Why' from the Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band album is actually quite funky.

Yes, she isn't the most accomplished singer in the world - but when has that ever mattered in pop music?

I'd go so far to say that Yoko Ono is the originator of at least punk - if not half a dozen other musical genres too. Her influence is everywhere. I hear a little Yoko in most female alternate musicians. The spirit of the Riot Grrrl movement in the 1990s was completely Yoko-esque.

If you're unfamiliar with her music, I'd recommend you start with the recent remix album, 'Yes, I'm A Witch'. It's very accessible and very listenable.

As for the resentment... It's easy to forget now, but all the Beatle wives were hated at some point or another. Even Linda Mc.Cartney was derided for recording and performing with Paul as part of Wings. The resentment against Linda only subsided when she died. Ringo and George's wives never made any attempt to perform musically with their husbands, so they obviously got less flak than Linda and Yoko... If it was Yoko who had been shot that night, she'd be seen as the visionary she is - no question. But as we all know, she had the nerve to not take the bullet - and that's where the resentment comes from. It's as simple as that.

Try watching Yoko's Walking On Thin Ice video here, if you're in any doubt as to how much Lennon loved her. As one of the comments on YouTube states, it's almost "Beatleporn" at around the two and a half minutes in. It's slightly embarrassing but touching all at the same time.

p.s. Doesn't this picture of Yoko and Julian look just like Joan Crawford and David Lynch? lol

Well I'm hardly an expert on the subject but of course...

confused

jacktheimprovident said:

the biggest reason is the idea that she was responsible for breaking up the Beatles by steering John into ever-more artsy and pretentious territory and for presumptuously trying to control or influence the group's music when she wasn't a member, which the others resented.

She only had a degree of influence over her husband. I doubt that she was leaning over the mixing desk barking orders at the other three Beatles.

jacktheimprovident said:

From what from little I know of the Beatles' breakup, all of that was true...

confused

jacktheimprovident said:

and it was certainly a contributing factor to the breakup but hardly the only or biggest one.

Her continued presence at Abbey Road was simply a manifestation of Lennon loving Yoko more than he loved The Beatles.

jacktheimprovident said:

Paul's increasing domineering behavior towards the rest of the group was probably a bigger factor, as was just their increasing divergent musical identities, and George in particular was stifling in a group where he was relegated to two songs an album.

nod

jacktheimprovident said:

I personally just think Yoko's music sucks, she comes across as very pretentious and the musical influence she had on John was sometimes downright dreadful (eg. all of John's solo material prior to Plastic Ono Band if you ask me). Basically I don't like her, but don't have the vehement hatred many others have.

Well the three albums prior to their Plastic Ono Band albums are a little unlistenable, but overall her music is too diverse to possibly dislike everything she's ever recorded.

yoko is a strong woman who creates very polarizing art, which john found attractive and which influenced him to go in other directions, much to the dismay of his beatle fans. i'm not going to get into it with the yoko-haters who are bound to creep into this thread any moment, but i think she's an amazing woman whose art is very spiritual and even very witty, if people are willing to take the time to look beyond the "weird" surface of it. i think she and john loved each other very much and they fed each other as artists. that's all that matters.

nod

I saw some of her pieces at a fluxus exhibit years ago and it was all so amazingly FUN! I loved it.

And being that she wasn't in the group, aren't the group members to blame for breaking up? confuse I mean, it was all of their choices to continue, outside influences or not.

Because she is a goddamned greedy cunt. Sean Lennon isn't John's only son and Julian should never have had to have been brought to the point of begging to get money that is rightfully his. I understand marriage changes the dynamic of ownership when it comes to the assets of the partner who passed but the way this whore tells the story, Julian is not a part of any picture. I hate her for that and nothing she does short of a public appology and handing over Julian's rightful part of the fortune will ever change my mind about this goddamned witch. To be honest, there aren't even names strong enough that I can use for her. That is how much I hate her guts.

Very true: Julian writes in a foreword in Cynthia's book 'John': "For many people my father was a hero, but for me he was a father who let me down in so many ways"

Supa, you never know now. Prehaps, you are on a shit list. Just like myself, I've pissed off the purple kool aid drinkers drink. People forget about freed om of speech and expression.

um...I'd say on this thread anyway, the purple kool aid drinkers are the Yoko Haters. Let's all get on bandwagon and HATE YOKO! dancing jig

Believe me, I'm secure enough in my opinions not to shut other people down or hold it against them for having different opinions than I. I could care less if people agree with me.

Well I practically chopped her head off in P&R one day and I have made ammends over that but we are actually coming into our own in our friendship and I don't want my hate for this stupid cunt to get in the way lol

And yes, I've lost friends over the koolaid too. What can you do? shrug

lol

I can chop people's heads off too. It's called giving them an education. wink
