A number of fans are only going on how the tabloids portrayed her, which was all they had to go on back at that time. It has only been recently that many documentaries, interviews and candid stories have come to light talking about what actually happened back then.

The Beatles were in trouble before Yoko even showed up on scene. It was Paul who had been the constant threat of leaving. The members had pretty much grown apart, weren't getting along and there were financial troubles also. Yoko showing up was just the straw that broke the camel's back which John took her everywhere, including the studio sessions, which weren't full of lovie dovie commaderie anyway and having her there all the time just made things more tense, which their frustrations made it into print. Yet, it was made to seem that their not getting along just happened when Yoko showed up and solely because of her.

Also, John was married at the time with his son, Julian, so that didn't invite much love either and she was a foreignor on top of that. Interracial relationships were still very taboo in the late 60s.

So when the Beatles finally broke up, the tabloids, public opinion, the other Beatles' dislike of her just used Yoko as the likely scapegoat. She was easy to blame and easy to hate. The other Beatles used that to gain a sort of sympathy for their future endeavors. Even for John who was seen as bewitched by this so-called evil woman who had an agenda to bring down the Beatles and put herself on the map by using John.

To Beatle Fans she will also be hated because of the break up and taking John into a different direction, but seriously they were going that way anyway. George had already quit the group a bunch of times, Paul was ready to be a solo performer, Ringo pretty much wanted to do movies and things like that, and John needed an interest too. The big problem the Beatles had were that the creative forces of Paul,John and Goerge were all growing very fast, and they were tired of being stifled by the group and the image, thats why they broke up, nothing to do with Yoko. Now in terms of certain things she has done i do have issues, mainly the whole Julian Lennon issue still bothers me, basically Julian spent money that his father gave him to actually go to auctions to buy his fathers art work and things for himself because nothing was given to him or even asked if he wanted it. Julian ironically, is much like his dad, but as Julian said "His dad song about love and peace, but i never saw that love". John was very flawed, and he said it himself, ironically, in his last interview dec 8th, he spoke of how he screwed up julian, and wanted to fix it.

Are you implying that Lennon was abusive? hmmm

Not at all actually, mainly because he never really knew Julian. John and Cynthia had to deny they were married to keep the female Beatle Fans interested in him. And then by the time u knew it they were divorced and John never really knew Julian at all, so Julians comment was about this man who stood for love and peace and giving love but in reality Julian never experienced that "man". They were starting to "come together" in 1980 and get closer, but then JOhn was murdered.

Another thing that's even more screw up is the fact that the first and only paycheck that Yoko send to Julian was for $.50! mad

This always bothered me because at the time of his death he was starting to see Julian more and i do believe they would have reconciled basically because John was turning 40 and LIFE was becoming a reality and he was finally maturing. Julian in my opinion is/has never been treated as Johns son.

Her conceptual art might have been interesting, but her music didn't do much for me either.

I liked Born In A Prison okay, I guess. Her voice isn't so grating on it.

She's a dilettante. Maybe John found something strong in her nature, it reminds me of the Kurt/Courtney match, even though men are slave to the pussy, women can run mind games to. I think she blew his mind.

Miles

While no fan of her music and 'art', or her influnence on Lennon's music, if you do some research, she has quite an interesting history pre-Lennon, having been previously married to a Japanese composer and an American jazz musician, and with professional associations with the likes of John Cage and Ornette Coleman, all of the wailing and 'avante garde' variety, of course. wink

I personally don't dig her 'professional widow' routine, but then, there are plenty of 'professiol widows' of famous deceased people around.

I think one of main roots of her unpopularity is the subconscious feeling that she was in the shadows when the Beatles split up, and again when Lennon was murdered (not 'in the shadows' by having arranged these events tho), and so many people feel that if Lennon hadn't ever met the woman he would still be alive today.

But then, history shows that John Lennon was often attracted to mother figures (such as Yoko was. He even often called her 'Mother'.) in his relationships and
just encountered the deluded Mark Chapman in the wrong place at the wrong time. neutral

Because she is a goddamned greedy cunt. Sean Lennon isn't John's only son and Julian should never have had to have been brought to the point of begging to get money that is rightfully his. I understand marriage changes the dynamic of ownership when it comes to the assets of the partner who passed but the way this whore tells the story, Julian is not a part of any picture. I hate her for that and nothing she does short of a public appology and handing over Julian's rightful part of the fortune will ever change my mind about this goddamned witch. To be honest, there aren't even names strong enough that I can use for her. That is how much I hate her guts.

I'm sure he didn't expect to die so young and even if he left everything to that witch, that still doesn't mean that she can't do the right thing. She's a greedy whore and I hate her lol And word to my friends, don't even mention her to me cuz I will kill you lol Although JustinUK1972 did make me a wonderful mix with her on it and because I lust, I mean love him so much I overlooked his sin against me just that once smile
