Official Bjork Volta thread...including news, tour info and album reviews (SPOILERS WARNING)

We're spread a little too thin. There are like 10 Bjork threads in my current posts list and I've taken it upon myself to propose the idea that we put all of our fammings-out, reviews, new tidbits, concert info and such in one place. If we're lucky, they might even make it a sticky once the album leaks. So please, make it easy on me (and everyone else) and post your hyper-geekness here. I'll do the same.

from pitchforkmedia:

New Music: Bjork: "Innocence" [MySpace]

Seems Björk has stepped out of that big-footed bauble-suit for a moment to serve up Volta's first course on her MySpace, and it's got spice. No full-length "Earth Intruders" yet, but we do get snippets of that and two other songs-- "Wanderlust" and "I See Who You Are"-- as well as the whole of "Innocence", posted in conjunction with her just-announced music video contest.

The latter tune has our Icelandic enigma leveling extremes, proclaiming "The thrill of fear/ Now greatly enjoyed with courage!" in the crevices of rock'em sock'em beats and pesky synth squelches. It's herky-jerky and relentless, lean and masculine, aggressive and confident-- heck, you half-expect Timbaland to pop up and take 'em to that ethereal bridge. Um, is this Björk's "SexyBack"?

Can't wait for her "My Love"...

On the news front, "Earth Intruders" debuted on the Billboard 100 at number 84, making it Björk's highest charting single of all time in the US! Her only other chart entry is "Big Time Sensuality" at number 88.

And I agree with this review. "Innocence" is so joyous it makes my teeth ache. This is like "I Go Humble" for the Noughties.

Love it! And I know several people are having their wish come true. Looks like that bigfoot statue is going to make its video premier soon.

And this is all based on iTunes? I'm still praying for remixes and b-sides on a physical single.

Yeah, I don't think she's getting big airplay.

Her dreams of a "Sexyback" or "Maneater" are dashed. :shucks:

And don't forget to catch her on SNL tomorrow night!

Björk will be the musical guest on an episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Scarlett Johansson, on the 21st of April. Björk has previously visited that show to perform 'Bachelorette' in 1997, and back in 1988 singing 'Motorcrash' and 'Birthday' with The Sugarcubes with host Matthew Broderick

Some info on how to get tickets for it: For stand-by tickets, arrive no later than 7:00am on the morning of the taping under the "NBC Studios" marquee on the 50th St. side of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. You may choose a stand-by ticket for either the 8:00pm dress rehearsal or the 11:30pm live show. Only one ticket will be issued per person. Please note that a stand-by ticket does not guarantee admission.

i have a feeling it'll be like the last album. no physical single for the first one, and then a couple of remixes for EI will turn up on the Innocence single.

Oceania had no single release even outside the US either.

I think one of the "Who Is It" singles actually said "Oceania" on the side.
