Diano Ross in Concert in New York 4/6/07

I saw Diana's show at Madison Square Garden (The Theatre at) on Friday.

She sounded GREAT! (perfeclty in tune unlike on Idol)

Looked great!

Sang songs she doesn't often do (My House, Ease on Down the Road, etc.)

The band was tight.

ONly question i had: The band was small (1 guitar, bass, drums, percussion and 1 piano player). But I heard horns and strings and even other keyboard parts.

THe piano player was only playing piano or e. piano.... so where were the other instruments? I guess they could be tracks but the other musicians were playing live.

Yes she did. not as the opener (that was "I'm coming out").

She started LH with the slow section.... then it kicked in to the disco section and she went backstage to change into one of her 5 outfits for the night smile.

But again, there were extra strings in LH but the only keyboardist was playing an Elec Piano sound during this song, so where were the strings??

Think you can remember the tracklisting? I saw she is playing here next week, but I probably can't make it. If it's between this and ATHF, I'll probably go for that event (although they aren't on the same day).

I found a great Diana fan site that has the set list:
http://www.dianarossfancl...R2007.html

Diana opened the show with "I'm Coming Out"..then went through "More today Than Yesterday",and the full versions of "Where Did Our Love Go", "Baby Love" and "Stop! In The Name of Love". Diana also did "Touch Me In The Morning", "Ease On Down The Road", "Love Hangover", "Fine & Mellow", "Don't Explain", "The Boss", "It's My House ", "Upside Down", "Love Child", "Do You Know ...."/ Ain't No Mountain ....",

"I Will Survive", and she came back for a special treat...with,

"I Love You" (That's all That Really Matters)

She also did a really cool version of Love Child that turned into a Salsa beat. as well as Upside Down..... trying to remember what isn't included above. it was basically all her hits except Endless Love. I found a full set list somewhere online the other day but can't now.

Who is ATHF? I can't figure out the acronym smile

I was there!

It was my first time seeing the diva in concert and although I enjoyed the show, I couldn't help but think how rushed it was compared to other shows I've seen (eg. Cyndi Lauper, Donna Summer).

I was expecting Diana to converse with the audience, make jokes, tell stories...

Instead, it seemed like the wanted to get through her entire setlist as soon as possible in order to make it home at a decent time. mad

I get it...she's 64....but c'mon! She didn't even perform her signature audience participation song "Reach Out And Touch (Somebody's Hand)".

Regardless, I still love the bitch. Even if all she could manage was an 1 hour and 15 minutes!

I saw here twice before in the 90s and she did perform longer and do the Reach Out and Touch thing.....

but she is older now..... so maybe she didn't want to over exert herself? She was awesome and in perfect pitch and looked great!

That's actually a cool setlist. She's had sooooo many hits,it must be difficult for her to decide what to sing.

Hi, I saw her in Atlantic City on Saturday night (4/7). It was my first time and I had a blast. I was very impressed with her voice at 60+, that sista was doing her thang. I couldn't believe how good she looks after having had 5 children. She was working those gowns. It was wonderful to see everyone in attendance singing along to damn near every song. That was such a great oneness. My only negative - the show was way too short. I know it must have been hard for her to select the songs, but I could have stayed for another two hours singing along with her. Great show.
