Maxwell's 1st single coming February 13th

The 1st single from his long awaited new CD will be up on his Myspace on February 13th. (The CD release date was apparently bumped from the February release date).

I would assume the CD is coming in either March or April.

Are all the three CDs going to be called "Black Summer's Night" or what?

It's a strange title for a "trilogy" considering that the word "night" connotes just a rather short moment in time. A few hours, and it's thematically stretched over to... three CDs?

Ermmm, I was MSNing with a buddy of mine from Mallorca. And updating my music files. I kind of stopped getting new stuff and am directing my attention to my older music files. Lots of updating to be done.

I knew when it was first announced that the album was coming out in February that it wasn't gonna happen. Now let's see about the single.

I personally never saw what Maxwell did to deserve all the accolades he receives. He's made three albums in some 11 years (and one live version of his first album), and while the music is palatable he basically is channeling musical styles a lot of us have heard before.

"Ascension (Don't Ever Wonder)" reminded me of Maxi Priest's "Close to You."

"Sumthin' Sumthin'" was literally his own version of Slave's "Watching You."

The Prince sound-alike songs have been mentioned but he definitely channeled Prince in "Fortunately."

Maybe if he wasn't making albums every four-plus years and actually making something original and distinctive I could respect Maxwell more, but until then ...

I don't have a problem with artists releasing an album every few years, as long as the material is good.

Maxwell's music player on his Myspace page is expected to be activated on the 13th.....2 more days!!!

His voice is heavenly, but his last CD was so-so. Embrya had its moments, but he's never quite matched his first CD.....and that one wasn't a masterpiece.

I hope he gets it together soon.
