Playlist Extravaganza... UPDATED list... I just love my playlists... I am compiling too many. Not limited by CD timespan I come up with the nicest of things...
My latest playlist is called PURE, a list of music that moves me in whatever way. It is a list with classical music, pop, dance, rock and ballads. It is a representation of songs that made me cry, made me smile or made me dance; you can be moved in a lot of ways. This sure made the list a weird one, but to my mind in all makes sense; these are ALL songs I love to death in one way or the other. It sure made a diverse list; it sounds like a hip list that Frits Spits, a famous Dutch DJ in the 80's would play, back in the day when there were just a few Dutch radio stations and they played EVERYTHING, before splintering them into stations for target audiences. People that hung out with me the last few years will recognise songs we talked about; like Des'ree or Britney Spears. Just mind that this list is TOTALLY incomplete; I just scanned a part of my MP3 collection... from A to K... so lots more to be added. [Which I now have done now] And some songs did not make the grade. Some songs are SO emotional I cannot listen to them yet without being turned into a blubbering mass of emotions (Free As A Bird by The Beatles, for instance) or because it cannot be a list with JUST Joy Division songs. Here goes; [Edited 11/3/06 12:00pm]

Of course, I am playing the list right now.
KD Lang's simple just came on and I have to thank Tron for this song. It still haunts me, that song. It almost got the same workings on me like My Old Man by Joni Mitchell.

This is just 1/3's of it. If the entire list will fit onto one DVD I will burn it for you so you can take it back to OZ with ya!

You misspelled the last word in "Hot Stage Lights," Brandy's "Where Are You Now?" is from Batman Forever, and I can't believe someone else likes "Lost in You" by Chris Gaines/Garth Brooks. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Hehehe. # Hot Stage LIGHTS is updated. # I do not care much about Batman Forever, is why I did did not enter the album title. I think that is of importance if you got the entire album, but the rest of the album was not of much interest to me. I love that Lenny Kravtiz production. I wish those two would do an album together, like Cree Summer and Vanessa Paradis did. # You love Lost In You? That rocks! I never cared about political correctness when it comes to music. My 70's folder sports the likes of Demis Rousos, just cuz that one song reminds me of my youth. I admire Garth Brooks for being such a country force, but my country likings dwell to Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash and the likes. Even if I do like smooth country, I tend to like people that are not as 'big' and keep it 'real', like the older Dolly Parton albums and her bluegraas albums. And Alison Kraus, of course. I love Alison Kraus.

I do. I always loved The Beatles, but all those alternate versions on the Anthology sets just made me fall in love all over with their music. Those Anthology sets ROCK, esp them alternate takes I included. I am still looking for a full length version of that Helter Skelter Jam. I also almost included the live version of the song that U2 opened their Rattle & Hum album with, as it's got SUCH a slassic intro. Still gives me goosebums. But I do not include songs just cuz the intro is great. The entire song should be great. And I like The Beatles' version better.

The Anthology sets did that for me too, especially Strawberry Fields Forever take 7 & edit on Anthology 2.. BTW, did you catch Kane's (Dutch pop-rock band) version of Helter Skelter on the TMF Awards? I don't like their own material but this was surprisingly impressive!

The Dreaming It is funny, the artists I love most, like Kate and Joy Division, are hardest to single out, cuz I love so much of their material. But The Dreaming is first and foremost one of my faves of here, of prob my favest album by her.

What a great list. Just looking at some of the titles make me emotional. You must be on a emotional roller coaster when you listen to that.

It is! There are even two songs on there that can make me cry like a baby when I just hear the first notes. But also LOADS of good stuff! I have been headbanging away behind my keyboard alot of the time. The entire list runs a total of 11 hrs and somethin'

And I still cannot believe so many Madonna songs made the grade. This is probably why I like artists that are diverse; every Madonna song on there represents a certain era in her carreer, I suppose.

you liking madonna??? Armagedddon is upon us!!! Hehehe. Serious. I mean, part of my anti-gay lobby was to never swerve to the bad side (liking Madonna, Streisand Minogue, Donna Summer etc). Then I grew up and just listened to what I liked, be they gay-adored or not. But serious, I was a bit surprised I found myself handpicking so many Madonna tracks. But like I said; she is a diverse artist; is something I always liked about her.

And I somehow lost my Dinah Shore albums in my external harddrive crash, so ripping those again, so I can at least include Shoo Fly Pie And Apple Pan Dowdy.
And probably some more too, I love Dinah Shore!

Cuz you are who I think you are or some other obscure reason? I love that song. I can't believe it did not end up on her album; I think it could be the defining song of her carreer, even if she is only mimicking Elizabeth Fraser.
