One of my fave albums and one of the best awful movies of all time! Sadly, it was also the last movie Gene Kelly ever danced in. lol

The movie is really fun to watch. Sure, it wasn't going to win any Academy Awards, but it works really well as a series of music videos to trip out to while you listen to the music. Of course, several martini's makes it even more fun to watch... wink

if someone blamed my sexual orientation on watching the movie and listening to the album "xanadu" at an early age, i don't think i'd be able to argue their point.

not that i give a damn. biggrin

I think so, too. And that's one of Herb Ritts' best photos.

A few of my friends met her a while back. She performed at a local theater, and after the show, they got word of where she was staying and followed her back there and caught up with her as she was walking into the hotel. She signed autographs for them and took pics, and they said she was super nice about it.

"John Farrar" is still one of my favorite songwriters ever. He killed that stuff
for her. "Magic" , "Make a move on Me" , "A little More Love"are great pop songs just great. and, Olivia did such a great job with those songs.

I agree. The movie is a guilty pleasure of mine.If you don't take it all too seriously and realize that it's a fantasy musical, you can really get into it.The songs are excellent, and Olivia is always fun to watch. She's a very sexy, classy lady.

nod "Suddenly" is gorgeous. To me,it sounds like a Barry Gibb production.I'm surprised that he didn't have anything to do with it.

i don't know if it's better...i find it more fun than 'grease'. i don't really get into teen/high school comedies unless they're really bitter and dark, though ("heathers", etc.). i also think that whole '50s greaser/bobby-sox era was kinda boring, so aside from a few catchy tunes and fun musical scenes, i've never really gotten into 'grease'.

Hey, SoulA...I'm not sure, but I think they were dating back then & he was like a child prodigy or something like that. Around 18-21yrs ? He was a monster producer. just fierce. those chord progressions were REALLY progressive !

Finally Tessa, we agree on something! biggrin

Xanadu (the title track) is one of Olivia's best songs. And ELO did a great job as well.
cool
