oohh...the sheryl crow clone! Whatever happened to her?

didn't liz release "exile in guyville" before cheryl crow released her first album? i know cheryl's been around for a while, but...liz is liz!

or at least she WAS liz. sigh

exile in guyville was touted as a song for song response to the stones "exile on main st". Being a big stones fan, I bought EIG, and I was very..very disappointed

Where is that pic from? Björk looks so bored. lol

Everytime I see Björk and PJ together I have to mention one of my favorite Rasputina songs about their fictional double date, "PJ + Vincent & Matthew + Bjork" (warning - contains explicit language).

Watch this. It's a cover of the Rolling Stones "Satisfaction" - simulataneously hilarious, creepy and completely awesome!

I'll give it another listen, but that's how the critics reviewed (raved!!) it..

i'm not as much of a liz fan as i am an "exile in guyville" fan. there are a handful of songs i like from "whip smart", but after that? eeg.

I think "Whip Smart" doesn't get enough credit. "Exile" is so long and sprawling and made such a big splash that I think "Whip Smart" got lost in the shuffle. Their sound, attitude and ethic are nearly identical. "Whip Smart" is just a tad snazzier.

She used that as a loose concept, but the style and presentation of it is nothing like the Stones.

If you can listen to it for what it is, it's undeniably brilliant songwriting.

I mean, other than the Q photo shoot, I've never even seen Björk and PJ in the same room together, much less perform together. That was heavenly.

I can't help but think that if that duet happened today, their roles would be reversed.

When I first met Bjork, we actually talked quite a bit about PJ. You can tell they really love each other.

And how do you mean about the role reversal thing?

That "song" is still hilarious no matter how many times I listen to it. I'm going to see Rasputina next month in Brooklyn. I wonder why they've never performed that track live? lol

Björk seems to be following PJ's lead in that performance. So much has happened to Björk since then (like her entire solo career) that I would think she would be the more dominant one now.

Yeah, I can see that. But I think they did it perfectly.

Bjork took a back seat until the end, and then she totally ripped it.

Did you notice that the organ/synth sounds are nearly identical to those in "Enjoy"? I wonder if she was already working on that song. hmmm

Rasputina is basically lead celloist Melora Creager and she's a real character. There have a few more funny skits, but that's the only one about celebrities.

Yes, it was perfect they way it was. Didn't really hear the organ sounds that much--too focused on PJ's guitar playing.

And I totally glossed over the fact that you met Björk. Lucky you!

3 times. mr.green

And I adore PJ's playing. I don't aim to copy anybody, but if I had to compare my own guitar style to someone's it would be PJ's.
