She's one of (if not THE) greatest jazz singers ever. But the way people talk about her--she put her whole soul in every note...she sang my soul...she embodied soul...a lifetime of pain in every note...I believe every word she ever sang...

That's how folks like Elvis, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, & Billie Holiday are overrated, even though they're great.

There are a lot of talented or great artists, but only some are picked to be legends.

It becomes like a touchpoint that people in a society can relate to. I think that's also the reason we hear so much about nobodys like Jessica Simpson. There are a lot of pretty blondes, but she just something that people can talk about.
