Madonna is NOT the Greatest pop artist of all time

today i waz reading an online article and they were talking about Madonna and that "hung up" is like her 900th single to reach the top ten ( rolleyes ) and then they said this "Madonna, arguably the Greatest pop artist of all time...." shocked sure she is one of the greatest pop artists but, simply not the greatest. that title belongs to the King of music
H.E Michael Jackson

I'm not touching this....but if MJ were so damn great, don't you think he would be a little more productive and that his last album wouldn't have sucked so badly...just saying.

"arguably" means the suggestion is up for debate.

Michael Jackson is absent from the scene for far too long to beat Madonna. Madonna is never out of the limelight for long.

and sadly, when he is in the limelight its usually for non-music related items.

You know what? I think she is. I think her longeivity and productivity are amazing. If you'd asked me in 1987, I'd have said Michael, but unfortunately he fell off after that and never recovered.

I think that MJ is the greatest pop artist. His global impact has been unparalleled. Just my opinion. Hes also been in the game alot longer than Madonna and Prince and sold more records. That is apart of what "pop" means, isnt it?

Think about it. When Madonna and Prince were in elementary school, Michael was a global superstar already.

Here's the tale of the tape: MJ is simply more talented than Madonna and has had more of an impact...But when you are talking about "Pop" artists, talent is not that important...Madonna wins in the category of "The Greatest pop Artist Of All Time' because that's her aim...She wants to sell the most records and be the biggest star in the world..MJ wants to same thing, but his head is too fucked up to even walk straight...Madonna is more ambitious and can never be called lazy...MJ is the opposite...Hey, I would choose MJ from 77 to 85 anytime over Madonna's peak period...He kicks her ass during this era...But that was 25 years ago...

so? american life sucked worse. even the great are aloud to have one bad album. mdonna has one and so does mj, but at least there was some great songs on invincible.

anyway, i hate when threads like these are made, it leaves it so open for him to get bashed. madonna and michael are both my favourite artist but i think michael is better but thats only my opinon.

Hmmm....Really? I don't think so. IMHO, AL had at least three brilliant tracks (in my opinion, these are them). "American Life", "Mother And Father" and "Nothing Fails". If you were to ask others, they would point out that the album had some great songs. Then there were some songs that were OK and the rest was awful. IMHO, MJ's album was just poor to terrible with a few listenable tracks. The upbeat tracks where very reptitive and had no melody adn the soft tracks were beyond bland. Opinion.

BTW, AL was released in 2003 and what did MJ release that year? One bad R. Kelly track! Madonna managed to release an album that was a dissapointment and an album that most people consider very good (COADF) while Jackson twiddles his thumbs. And it's not like his work just before "Invincible" was that notable..."Blood" had some good new stuff and as did the new music on "History"...enough for one decent disc!

You've got your opinon, I've got mine...done with this thread!
