NEW Stevie Wonder & Al Green DVDs!

Apologies if this has already been posted but look what I found in yesterday's Observer Music Monthly magazine:

Stevie Wonder Live In '72 DVD!!!!!

omfg

It's released in the UK October 3rd, with 'Al Green Live In '72' following Oct 17th!

I went to www.play.com and here's the blurb...

Special Features:
Preview clip of Al Green live in '72
Interview with Stevie Wonder
Interactive menus
Scene selection

Review:
The first in a new series of classic live performances from history's greatest soul legends, Soul Revelation: Stevie Wonder is an iconic performance from one of the most celebrated artists of all time at the height of his talents and career.

This release is a UK premiere, never before released for home entertainment or aired on television. The performance is a rare 60 minute live special originally shot on 35mm film, now with restored picture and audio for superb audio and visual quality.

Tracklisting:

1. For Once In My Life
2. If You Really Love Me
3. Superwoman
4. You And I - We Can Conquer The World
5. What's Going On (instrumental version)
6. My Cherie Amour

That was my reaction. wink

Since Stevie's is the first in a series, I can't wait to see what else they have in store. Let's hope some classic soul/funk shows get dusted off and spruced up. pray

But are these DVDs going to be available in the USA , or are they UK only releases ? Because if they are UK DVDs, unless you have a multi-region DVD player that can play stuff from other countries, then you're outta luck ....

In Canada, there is a new Roberta Flack DVD which is a concert recorded October 30,1975, and she performs with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

I thought this was especially cool it was with an orchestra from my province.

Here is the 50 minute set list:

01. Killing Me Softly (With His Song)
02. There's A River
03. Jesse
04. Why Don't You Move In With Me
05. Some Gospel According To Matthew
06. Suzanne (Leonard Cohen cover)
07. Reverend Lee
08. The First Time (Ever I Saw Your Face)

You can see the cover here, even though that's not the dress she wears in the concert.

jj - I'm not sure, sorry. The magazine advert (and the blurb below) both state that it's the first time they've been released in the UK. So it may just be a UK-only release. Hopefully not. It might be worth checking other websites to see if they have it in stock, though.

nod

As much as I love that documentary - it's just great seeing all the old SITKOL musicians reminiscing and vibing off each other - it's great to have an actual show itself. And from such a classic era!

Looking forward to hearing 'Superwoman', especially. drool

I was wondering if these are those "Soul" TV shows-- the set lists are the same...we'll see.....

Since this is a UK website, I assume these are UK only releases. Lots of good stuff comes out in the UK that may make it over here eventually (or not at all, in some cases)
So, if you're in the USA and don't have a multi-region PAL/NTSC DVD player, you're outta luck with these discs. They won't play in your machine
