went to DJ Rob Swift (X-ecutioners) last night!

When I arrived at the club, Rob Swift was already on the decks just spinning some tracks to dance to:

Booker T And the MG's "Melting Pot"
Dennis Coffey "Theme From Black Belt Jones"

He had some between song banter and of course promoted his new CD/DVD Wargames.

Central Line "Walking Into Sunshine"
The Police "Voices Inside My Head"

Then he did the first part of his "Rob Gets Busy" that has him changing tones on the drone from Fred Wesley & The JB's "Blow Your Head" on one turntable, and half-tempoing MC Shan's "The Bridge" on the other turntable. Then he juggles a bit of Biz Markie's "Nobody Beats the Biz". He ended it differently though, since "Rob Gets Busy" was recorded in the mid 90s, he finished off with making new rhythms from Missy's "Get Your Freak On".

Then he went back into some DJing:
Man Parrish "Hip Hop Be Bop"
Kraftwerk "Trans Europe Express"
Soho "Hot Music"
Big Daddy Kane "Warm It Up Kane"
Eric B & Rakim "Know The Ledge"

After this the song choice got a bit less interesting, with pedestrian fratboy party rap cuts like "Insane in the Brain", "Jump Around", and "The Choice Is Yours", but the crowd loved it.

Then he came back and did the original ending to "Rob Gets Busy", plus a routine where he made new rhythms out of Public Enemy's "Welcome to The Terrordome".

I had to leave after that but overall pretty cool night.

cool
