Z Cult Favorite - "Don't Ask My Neighbors"/The Emotions

Released in 77, this song, to me, is beautiful. Loved this song all my life. We know all about E,W&F being all over this, but the vocals are so sweet and pure. The music is bangin', the production and the performances, music and vocals, are top notch. This is how a ballad is done. This song doesn't get much love, and I find it to be very underrated, like people have forgotten about it. That's cool though. Wanna see who on here digs this song.

Ah shit BG, you went way back for one of my favorite slow jams but its cool. The three part harmony in this song was on point. The sistas put their heart in this song when singing it.

whistle "Don't Ask My Neighbor. Come To Me."

That's EXACTLY what I'm saying! The Emotions always sounded sexy as hell anyways, but, they really brought it on this.

I dig this jam very much!! I've put it on a 2 disk comp. I've simply titled "Romance", along with songs such as "I Wanna Get Next To you", Golden Touch", "Cause I Love You", "So Amazing". Each song was carefully hand picked. It would not be complete without "Don't Ask My Neighbors" .

This is one of my favorite songs of all time!!!

The production, the melody, their voices.....

There's something about their harmony that is just otherworldly..... i think they're just doing simple major triads but somehow it sounds.... bigger, fuller..... words can't really explain.

And especially the vocal "turns" on the word "Love" in.... "You'll find I Loo-oo-oo-ve you "

Just started trying to play it be year last week.... making some progress! (yay!)

There is a "quiet storm" segment on 93.1 FM in Cleveland, Ohio too, and they seem to play this song a lot.

"Don't Ask My Neighbor" is an excellent song. The Emotions brought it!!! The girl group Jade did a pretty decent remake of it in the early nineties
Damn this kooky love affair....

A year or so ago,Maurice White said that he was in the studio producing a new CD for the Emotions! I hope it gets released someday.

That's definitely a classic.

Bobby Caldwell also recorded a good version of it. It's on his Soul Survivor cd that was released in the mid-90's.
