Even Francis is sick of Courtney

imdb.com

Frances Bean Slams Courtney's Style

Courtney Love's 13-year-old daughter Frances Bean is deeply embarrassed by her mother's rock 'n' roll dress sense, and she wishes the troubled singer would favor a more feminine look. The restrained teenager, whose father was the equally scruffy late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, is exasperated with Love's refusal to tidy up her blonde locks and be more lady-like. She complains to Teen Vogue, "I prefer it when she's a classy starlet. I don't really like her hard-metal stuff, or when she doesn't brush her hair. I'm a different person. She tells me to live free and be free, but listen to other people's advice, but I don't always follow it."

I certainly hope this girl has more class that her mother has shown. I hope she has a good life and doesn't get herself fucked up by drugs the way her mother has. I would be embarrassed too if that skank was my mother. Good luck to Frances!

Frances sounds like she may have a clue. Maybe Courtney should listen to her own advice and listen to her daughter. I'm still rooting for her to get it together.

actually, from everything i've read, including other parts of that interview, frances is crazy about her mother - she was just stating a preference in how she likes to see C.Lo present herself.

I'm curious to hear what Frances' band will sound like.

And I think the C.Lo moniker is taken already.

You just know Francis is going to go the Amy Grant route. She's seen the very worst of what liberal/free parenting can offer. When you see pictures of her she looks happy, though (and just like Kurt). I hope she is happy.

By Amy Grant do you mean pop or Christian? I can see her band sounding like Hanson--very pop, but they all play their instruments.

Maybe both. I really mean not like Kurt or Courtney. She may react against the extremes she's been exposed to. Maybe Billy Joel's daughter will write brilliant challenging stuff.

Do you think that little kid played the drums on their first record?

On Hanson's first record, no. But he is the drummer for the group now, isn't he?

nod It does.

I was about her age now when I fell head-over-heels in love with her father. A few weeks later he shot himself through the head. Man, I cried my heart out. sad

Kinda like the Beach Boys. I could see her doing stuff like that. She's just a kid after all. I read Kurt was constantly raving about how good the Knack were as a kid. And the Smithereens. I like both of those two, but I don't have any indie punk cred to protect.

Courtney will always be a sort of hero of mine because, on top of being a very talented, authentic artist, she really doesn't care what you think of her. Now one could argue that it's to her detriment, but it's her detriment. It's like a true sense of freedom that she will wear, do and say what she feels with little regard as to how she comes off.

I want Courtney to get it together and come back out with some killer stuff and shine in another movie as much as any fan, but at the end of the day she's gonna do it on her terms and no one elses, and that, despite her self destructiveness, is something to look up to.

As far as Francis is concerned she never said she was sick of her mother in that article, she said she prefers it when she looks good as opposed to sloppy. I don't like sloppy C Lo either but I love kinder-whore and punk Courtney just fine. I also think how Francis comes off (a thoughtful teen) is probably due to the fact that Courtney is a different person around her daughter then she is to the rest of the world.

It's interesting to hear what Fancis thinks of her mother. I have a theory about kids with fucked up parents. I think they turn out level headed because they see how messed up their folks are so they go in the opposite direction. Look at Bobbi Christina. She seemed more normal than whitney and bobby in my opinion on the show.

What do u mean "proper".

U mean elvis ain't dead? lol

Priscilla was in the naked gun movies at least. Anyway, courtney is always known for nirvana, and thats her only claim to all the sad fame she gets. If anything, she is a bad role model.

I meant Priscilla played the widow, but they were divorced.

Courtney's actually a good actress IMO, and I do like some Hole songs.

Pricilla was never supposed to be anything else. Courtney seemed like the triumph of the spirit following Kurt's death, then turned into another celebrity train wreck. Pricilla never embarrassed herself like that(though I hear her new face lift is bad).

I think anyone can look up to her sense of freedom. She's the true definition of a rock star if that means anything. And when she's lucid she gives off a sense that she does at times read. Like Quentin Tarantino at least she's a good interview subject. Her references are well placed. And as far as her living off the death of Nirvana I'm not so sure. I think she'd be bigger had Kurt not died. How could "Live Through This" (argueably one of the greatest rock albums of all time) compete with THE suicide of the century? She hasn't put out a bad album yet. Her performance in "Flint" is the ghost of the Oscars for that year since she should've won the thing. I think you can look up to her as someone who seems to be unafraid. Sure she's a train wreck but at least she's entertaining. She's always aware, even when she's acting up.

I give her some props. She seems funny 24/7, and does seem to not take herself seriously. But I get the feeling that thanx to the drug use, she would be a right asshole in real life.

But yeah, she is entertaining. I cannot comment on her music, as I ain't a fan of that sorta stuff.

A couple of months ago I read her bit in Interview magazine (you know, that Andy Warhol thing). She always seems very aware and intelligent in stuff like that. I don't see enough actual footage of her, but I do have a feeling a lot of the whole 'messed-up crack whore' stuff is totally overblown in the media. If only she'd stop getting into trouble,

Aside from Bea Arthur's spot-on timing Courteny and her shenanigans were the highlight of the Pamela Anderson roast last month. It's stuff like that where you can see that while there's something not quite right (she's stoned, drunk or both) she's putting it on so thick and being so obnoxious that you know it's part show.

And isn't that the point anyway? She put out a whole album about starlets gone bad ("America's Sweetheart") yet no one gets the irony? It's a roast for Pamela Anderson for God's sake! What other time then that to be a total brat? She cracked me up when she insincerely cried out twice, "But I swear I've been clean and sober for a whole year"! Gen-X irony at it's finest.

she's extremely articulate and witty - it's just that she does extremely stupid shit, and she does her stupid shit very publicly.
