There is only one LaToya Jackson song that I like.I think it was her first single,a song called "Nighttime Lover",released in 1980.It was written and produced by her brother Michael, and you can even hear him singing background vocals near the fade. This is a cool song, with haunting verses and a chorus that went something like this...

baby...save my soul tonight

I can't remember the rest.I haven't heard this song since 1980! It got alot of airplay on our R&B radio stations.Who else remembers this song?

I mean, I'm glad Michael helped Latoya get that paper back in the `80s, but does that mean I should be listening to her? I don't think so.

Nighttime Lover is cool, but the version I have on mp3 sounds like a demo. I dunno if it's a bad recording or what.

Are you guys kidding, or did Rebbie/Latoya really cover "I Feel for You" and 1999?

I got LaToya's "Private Joy" and I actually like it!

ANd Rebbie' Centipede is only good cuz of Michael.... he's singing half the song!

IMHO - there wasn't and never will be any producer that can save LaToya. She's talentless and has nothing interesting or different to offer.

It's true. LaToya used to cover 1999 in concert and Rebbie really did record I Feel For U!

I like LaToya's 'Baby Sister'... "you used to love me til you met my baby siiister" lol

Anyway, 'Hot Potato' and 'He's A Pretender' are genuinely good too. Her version of 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' is better than Jessica Simpson's, but that's a given.

Anyway, YES, I think LaToya could have evolved into something had she been given a few voice lessons and handed the right producers (seriously, a lot of her shit sounds dated and underprofessional)-- I've head "No More Drama", "Just Wanna Dance", and "Free The World" from her continually and ridiculously delayed new album Startin' Over and it sounds like she finally found some good producers-- the only problem is that she's as talentless a singer and excruciatingly campy as ever. AT LEAST up the voice a little, Toy, and you'll do okay, at the very least.

All this ToyToy talk makes me want to hear some tunes but I only have her stuff on vinyl and still haven’t gotten the turntable hook up.

Toy only did 1999 in concert. I do have it on video (it was a comedy purchase at a record fair!!) but no audio files. I've got Rebbie's I Feel For You though. Who wants it?

I love those tracks and that album. You Take Me Places was my jam! But then again, I was a fan of Bryan Loren back in the day.

Someone asked me about his so I will post it (I hope this is not against the rules).

CNET's guide to burnidng vinyl to CDs: (it's actually kinda long, you can do a Google search on the same topic and find many other versions of this guide)

http://reviews.cnet.com/4...ml?tag=nav

I actually didn't use this cuz I have an iBook which doesn't have an audio in.

So for me, I used the following products:

1. I needed a turntable. For me the key thing was to get one that had audio out bult in, so I wouldn't need a pre-amp or wahtever. I picked this one out as my holiday gift:

http://www.audiobuys.net/Teac/1385.htm
(although I got silver.... it came in several colors. I got it at Restoration Hardware but I can't find it on their website now. I think SHarper Image used to carry it too. The key thing is make sure it has RCA audio out jacks... there was a cuter version in leather case but that didnt' have the audio out which you need.

2. iMic by Griffin so I could run a RCA cable from the turntable to my cmoputer. (most computers have audio in in some form but my ibook didnt'. many times the audio in is a single plug, so you need a cable that is RCA (red & white) on one end, mini sterio plug on the toher. Radio Shack can help you with that).
http://www.griffintechnol...ucts/imic/

3. SOFTWARE TO RECORD THE AUDIO.
iMic included the software Final Vinyl for free (you might be able to download it on the website) which is what I used to import the audio from LP/Cassette into my computer.

I didn't bother wtih trying to remove hiss or do any fancy editing other than breaking the songs into separate files. The Cnet article and other sources can give suggestions for other software you can use.

4. SOFTWARE TO BURN THE CDs
Then I just used iTunes to import the files (which are huge AIFF files, like what are on CDs), and then used iTunes to burn them as audio CDs if I wnated actual CDs to paly in the car etc.
