Z CULT FAVORITE - Bowie/We Are The Dead

From his 74' Diamond Dogs album, this is my favorite cut from that album. I love the riff on the chorus and the groove is killin'. Many Bowie Kids hardly ever talk about this one, but I love it. Who else out there digs "We Are The Dead"?

I've just been playing this and Cracked Actors like crazy this week. The keyboard in the beginning just gets me. Also, I like how the chorus isn't so upfront and in your face (people chanting "We are the dead" quietly in the background"). The lyrics are pretty out there, especially as the song progresses. Great track!

I totally agree. David's playing guitar and keys on this song and most of the album as well. He took a much bigger part on the guitar on this album since this was right after Ronson bailed.

I love it. Sweet Thing will always be my favorite from that album, but this one's right up there. It almost seems like a precursor to his Berlin period, 3 years ahead of time. Deliciously creepy and twisted. I love the "fuck me pumps". biggrin

oh god..i love this album.and sweet thing is my favorite for two things, becuase i love david's voice in it,and the for the fact that he used the cut-up tech to write the lyrics, you see he was inspired by borroughs(my favorite beat)..then borroughs was inspired by the french surrealist group and dada group.

U have to respect Bowie just for taking the chances he's taken, stylistically and image-wise. A true innovator (Iman thinks so, too).

Yes, you should get it! smile

Not at all! smile

It's a mixture of "Aladdin Sane" and plastic soul with an apocalyptic mood! smile

Yeah, "Big Brother" is the first sign that Bowie gave that he was funky.
