There were reports that James' drug problem was so severe that he'd altogether disappear for extended periods of time, leaving Janet totally abandoned. Other times, she'd send for people to retrieve him, and they'd sometimes find him totally zonked out in some seedy part of town somewhere. It seemed a horrible period for them both, and I hope they've both recovered as well as can be expected.

Interesting that I can find info about Chico's jail time but nothing El's. I really don't think El "blew up". He had a couple of hits but that's not "blowin' up" per se.

His Heart, Mind and Soul cd is very underrated. It's a 90's r&b gem.

El Debarge has a beautiful voice and he was a damn good writer/arranger. Hell half the hip-hop/R&B world owes him. They sampled the hell out of his music with Debarge. BTW, he really put the Secret Garden track over the top IMHO.

From the hi-tech funk of "real love" to the sweet poppy ballads of "after you", the album has a bit of everything under one synth midi filled roof.

"in the storm" has the prince co-written cut "tip of my tongue". Good song. I love "fastlane" wth kool mo dee too. I think muarice white produced the whole album.

" heart mind and soul" is ok, but too much babyface.
