Recommend an album that will take my ass on a ride. So....I haven't been shopping for music in months. I went to Tower Records this weekend excitedly because I had some extra scratch and I found absolutely nothing interesting or worthwhile. I did check through the clearance rack and found a killer Acid Jazz Compilation but the house compilation I bought sucked ass. I really didn't hear anything all that great in any of the listening stations.
I'm so bored with what's out there and need to be inspired. Recommend me an album that will grab me by the balls and not let go until it's done with me. It doesn't matter the genre, just as long as I'm guaranteed a ride. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Radiohead-OK Computer
One of the most depressing albums ever made, and the most brilliant. It's sophisticated, imaginative, and full of icy cold despair. The hooks are unique and ingenius, the melodies are rich and irresistable and the songwriting is Radiohead at their absolute best. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

And of course this is my contribution to this thread.....
This is actually the CD set that got me back into Zeppelin in a HUGE way. Well, in the way I am now, which is crazed to say the least. 3 cds recorded in 1972 from two different L.A. shows. It is a ride, and then some. I guarantee it. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

have you already gotten into princess superstar? if not, i STRONGLY recommend "CEO" and "last of the 20th century composers". her most recent album, "is", is good (and it's her most popular album to date), but if you wanna go on a trip, check out the other two.

Others on my thread for her weren't. If she's being compared to Sarah Cracknell then the album can't be terrible. I also saw Richard X's name in the album credits. That's another positive.

The hooks are unique and ingenius, the melodies are rich and irresistable and the songwriting is Radiohead at their absolute best. Funny because I slept on this album for like 4 years. I loved the Bends and I guess I just wasn't ready for this album because I previewed it in the store and it made no impression on me whatsoever. Then KidA was released. And in the first 5 chords of that album I was hooked. I bought KidA only based on that small a sample. After I devoured that album over and over I bought OK Computer and it made complete and total sense and I realized I had been without that gem for so long. I still prefer KidA over OK tho 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I agree with Arcade Fire, that is a great record.
For those who want to check something out a bit more obscure, look for this gem: The Motorhomes - Songs For Me and My Baby. Amazing record. beautiful melodies, great vocals, soaring guitars... yeah, you get the picture.
