I totally agree! If a steady dance beat kicked in after the synth-and-voice intro, that song would have massive mainstream appeal.

You are SO right! nod

Have you ever heard the song "People are Still Having Sex" by a one-hit group called LaTour? It was a somewhat successful club hit in the early 90s with a very similar chord progression (although not quite as nice accompanying instrumentation) as "Digital Garden." I'd bet a house mix of DG would sound a little something like it.
Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν
τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

I've got the best Prince song you never heard...actually three of them,,,
TAMBORINE from around the world in a day is My first pick. The whistle. Man that is off the chain.
Also, Prince does a cover of JUST MY IMAGINATION by the temptations, I had it on a set called EXTRA LOVEABLE...man, they should of put him in the rock and roll hall of fame the second after he finished that one. His guitar work is more than intense and explosive. Seek it out, find it, hear it. He takes an incredible song, a timeless jam and gives it a hell of a workout.
You'll want to smoke a cigarette after you hear it. I;m serious. You know how old folks will hear a guitar player and say "he really makes that thing talk"?
On this song, Prince makes that guitar breathe, talk, swim..enunciate.
Truly a bad jam.

Lastly, I'm not sure where I got it...but early Prince jam.."wouldn't you love to love me"...
A groove to this day. I don't know if he played all the instruments, but whoever plays the bass part on that should have their damn hands bronzed. I've read that Prince calls some of his earlier music contrived. This one is another serious jam. Straight up drum machine kickoff and that falsetto just working it.
I'd love to hear him do some of his older stuff like High Fashion, Still Waiting,Private Joy,Free,
I'm still waiting to hear his version of positively 4th street, there was an article in Rolling Sotne BACK IN THE DAY when around the world in a day came out, and Prince rode the reporter around in his daddy's Thunderbird and popped a tape in....Prince was on the cover...I guess it was 86 or so? Maybe 85...

The man is bad..
I'm done.

I'm with you on the "Just my Imagination" sentiment. He tore that shit up! I had always loved that song, and when I heard his version.....damn. It is quite moving. Perhaps that's why I was SO disappointed with "Betcha..." and the other old-school cover from Emancipation. He really lifted "Just my Imagination" to a completely different level".

Even the ones i like up there still arent the best ones off of those albums!!?? Rediculous.

Ya'll need to stop trippin'. It's just his opinion. He can like those things. I like 319. I don't care for Animal Kingdom. But it doesn't mean something is wrong with him.

I love 319, one of my favourites from The Gold Experience. I also really love Last December. While I don't think it's obscure, I think it is utter Purple genius and reminds me of why Prince is so amazing at what he does. It is also the perfect ending to The Rainbow Children.
I think I need to compile a proper list of many of my favourite 'obscure' moments by Prince.
