Prince needs to re-evaluate how he wants to promote this album. Musicology is just not the cut that should be pushing the album. Sorry yall, i know we all love Prince and do not want to except the fact that this is a bad record. And if you do not believe me, just wait to it all come's out, Musicology will not become a hit. forget what's in your mine but, what's in the record books. period!

He's a great artist and i love the new song, but i'm not gonna rant and rave about it...so if you don't like it, stop buying his music and find some new artist you like and enjoy and just shut up!

I hadn't heard the studio version of the song until I finally five minutes ago got the link to work on the site to the video--I have heard the song a few times now and my opinion:

That song is HOT!
The guitar and drums at the forefront with that funk lick, the ending with the synthesized horns like early Time stuff. I'm sorry. I am being honest. I have heard THe Work comparisons (I've made some myself) and all that. I didn't really like The Work when it came out and it hasn't grown on me.
Musicology has a much better groove, the pitch in his voice is much cooler than the falsetto from The Work, and the guitar riff won't get outta your head when it's over. THis is going to be a huge hit. ANd knowing this is the opener on the album makes me feel so good!
THis is going to be a classic. It ain't Kiss. It ain't LItte Red Corvette. It ain't Purple Rain. It is Musicology.
Please believe.
I don't agree with the haters, but I still love you all.

No matter how lousy the album is or how poorly it sells, I can guarantee that there will be quite a few people here who will praise the holy fuckin shit out of it. It's inevitable. There's no doubt in my mind that there will be more than one "Musicology Rules!!!" threads posted in this forum. There will be those who over do it on the praise, just so that they can be "in the faces" of all who hate Musicology.

Prince has made history already and has had a great career. And he is back in the public eye playing major venues. And they said FUNK was dead?

Whether his lp sales or not it doesn't matter he's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and his career has been set in stone.

The single will be a hit!! Kinda reminds me of Kiss or Batdance, going back to the flavor that made him popular. I thought the version on Leno was lame but the studio version is funkay.

I was quite surprised by this as I was rather indifferent to it when I first heard it. But now even I am getting kind of hip to it. The reviews I am reading for it are great too. Musicology as a song is decent.. I cant honestly see this becoming a hit.. if it does, I will stand corrected. The video is great.. maybe one of his best. Its not cheesy, its a clean fun video that is about the best you can get if u dont have a D cup tit size with them showing in every clip.

Prince has said a lot of things to live up to with this album. Talking about how it goes back to its roots.. ect.. things like that.. From the 3 songs I have heard, One of them does that justice. I hold a lot of hope and my expecatations are at a minimum at this point. I am also anticipating a better single..

I think some negative Prince fans have lost it just about as much as some ultra-positive fans. They have formed a definite idea of what they think Prince should do down to the style, the production and the promotion. Fans like this are not likely to be happy with him too often in the future, since their expectations are so precise and personalized.
