"Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do"

What do you guys think of it? Not from my favorite album of his, but I think it's a good song! Really sweet and simple. Your opinions?

I think this is the best we can expect from Prnce these days.I don't mean that as an insult. It's a nice, pleasant song. But on an album like Sign O The Times it would not stand out as a quality track. On Rave, however, it's a high point. I guess what I am trying to say is that it's a good song but I wish he could still write better ones!

He can...just wait and see.

It's a beautiful song by the way. From that album I also like;

Man 'O' War (my old-school, prince.org screen name)
Tangerine
Hot Wit U
Sun, Moon and Stars
Strange But True
Beautiful Strange (limited edition)
I love U but don't trust U (or vice versa confuse )

IMO there are a couple of pretty bland songs on SOTT, and Wherever U Go is better than them.
Which songs? ha, i'll get org-mauled if i revealed that!

C'mon, which songs. I'll even get the ball rolling. I don't think "It" is a great song. And maybe even some songs on Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic are better than it. Do you guys think I am crazy for suggesting this?

I don't dislike Prince's current music. I just wish the highs were as high, or close to as high, as they used to be. And I also wish there weren't so many lows.

When I heard this I thought it may have been Prince's audition to be a Hallmark card writer. Not good!

Well I love It smile but I never thought much of U Got The Look. It's bland.

Personally, I really dig Prince's music of the last couple of years, from Rainbow Children through News. I don't think much of Rave.

I swear the opening of this song sounds like background music to Beverly Hills 90210.

I was going to say "U Got The Look." It's a great song but it sounds quite of it's time.

Well, I'm happy to state on record that I don't think much to Adore (yep, I said Adore), Forever In My Life, It, or Hot Thing. In fact, SOTT is easily one of my least favourite Prince albums. And I don't care what other people think so ner!

P.S. I like Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do.

Wherever Whatever is a good song, i like the melancholy of it.
Great guitar licks, a bit bluesy, simple but effective.

I think that is a very fair point!

I think "Rave" is has many quality individual songs that don't hang together well. "Wherever U Go" is a sweet, simple little song, that sounds lame in the context of the "Rave" makeup.

I think you're bang-on!

I like Rave. It's got a handful of great songs. Sure it has like 4 or 5 that I dont like...but overall is a quite good album in my opinion.

Good point, I always thought sign of the times had some fat on it, as brilliant as it was, play in the sunshine, it, and to a lesser extent, forever in my life and hot thing were weak songs to me. Actually IT might have been better even than these three songs.

What are you talking about? That was probably his biggest hit off of that album. A great single and the long version of mines was burned along with the rest of my record collection by a crazy preacher I lived with. I've been looking for it ever since. Ebay has records but shit, who the hell can play a record anymore?

This is a favorite song of mines, in fact, as a songwriter i stole a bit of the lyric (thanks Prince) and I've always maintained that with rave, we have prince at his most human sounding, his most vulnerable sounding, as if he has totally let his guard down on some of these songs, he has never sounded so genuine and honest as he has on man o war, I love you but, and wherever you go whatever you do. I haven't heard him sound this human before or since and that's what makes rave special to me. For whatever reason Prince let us in on how sweet a human being he can be.

Wherever isn't bad, it's an okay song. But it reminds of that kind of Richard Marx, soft rock territory and doesn't sit well with me if I'm not in the mood.

The only average songs on SOTT to me are ...Beautiful Night and U Got The Look.

I honestly don't get how any Prince fan can't love this album. That's just me, but damn, I really think this was as great as it can ever get.
