N.E.W.S. on Billboard. Is N.E.W.S. the first official release (excluding the live box set) by Prince not to make the Billboard top 200?

Wiseass.Does the opening week's position on Billboard reflect anything in terms of actual sales to customers? I mean, wouldn't it simply reflect how many copies had been sold to shops in advance, and hence Prince's effectiveness at record distribution? Here's an idea: maybe Prince held back the delivery of CDs to ensure the NPGMC members who pre-ordered it received it first?  Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop. | |

Post-Arista there just aren't that many people who even know Prince still releases music. Now he's even MORE underground than he was prior to some album called 1999. Without a major label his distribution methods leave a hell of a lot to be desired. You can't find his latest release just anywhere. If you don't find it easily online (let's not forget, not everybody does their shopping online), you have to hunt for it. Regardless of material, if you don't have wide distribution you've lost half of the battle. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes. | |

I got my copy (and I'm sure most people here that want it have it as well) but I was just kind of surprised by the fact that it wasn't available anywhere becuase Prince has to be indy while he didn't mind letting a major handle his DVD, which is everywhere. BTW, Media Play finally got it in (and they had a ton of copies too). I wonder if that was a case where it was a problem with Media Play (who is kind of slow sometimes) or NPG (who is kind of slow sometimes). And they're aren't many Virgin Megastores around as far as I know. Lucky you! | |

Instrumental jazz is where it's at for some folks... Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind. | |
