Does anyone know the catalogue number for the Original Black Album.

i have it on Vinyl i bought it way back when it first surfaced.
It is all in black with a peach cat number.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Just be aware that some bootleg companies offered versions that had the catalogue number and were made to look as close as possible to the original shelved release.

yeah i got a feeling mine is a bootleg.
it doesnt have the extra tracks that some bootlegs carry though.

Look in the run-off groove for more tell-tale WB signs.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

If you want further details on how to check if a Black
Album is a boot or not let me know, and I'll post some
more info on what a genuine one looks like.

Well you clearly don't know much about the kind of collectors we are and the amount of money we have because many on here an original Black Album. A couple even have an original cd.

No, original black albums are plain black (no embossing).

OK, here's a few shots of an original 1987 Black Album...

back cover (UK)...

record centre (side 2) (UK)...

The cover is plain black and glossy. The only writing is
on the spine, which has the catalogue number. There is also
the usual WB logo embossed into the bottom right hand
corner of the back cover. There should also be a sicker on
the back in the top right hand corner with the barcode,
catalogue numbers and copyright information. No mention of
'Prince' is made anywhere on the album.

There are some good fakes out there too, so beware. Fakes
often misspell 'Rockhard In A Funky Place' as 'Rockard In
A Funky Place', and also the '33' at the bottom in the
peach triangle is often printed in black instead of white.
The writing on them also often looks more 'orange' than
'Peach'.
