Dublin 1995 show, the first night his mike kept cutting off...he just repeated himself and covered it up deftly. The backing track intro to "Now" was not loud enough.
On the second evening, a girl got past security, tapped him on the shoulder while he was singing "I love U in Me"-I'll never forget the look of shock on his face! She then got him in a bear hug and refused to let go, meanwhile the band played on...when security finally made it up there they had to prize her away and she got a hold of one of his giant exaggerated sleeves, then she grabbed at his guitar and broke some strings...he had to go in2 the phallic-castle thing, leave off the broken guitar and come back and wrap up the song without it!!

p.s I now live in Chicago, good to see some fans here...

What about the time on Arsenio where he lifts the lid to the piano to release the balloons and almost smashes his hand as the lid comes crashing down.

Is there anyone here who was at the concert when he fell and broke his big toe?

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Atlantic City Hit and Run Tour show...small, intimate $250 per ticket show where the fog machine made the stage floor slick, there was a step in a place that it usually was not, and Chaka fell flat on her face in the opening act. Prince then came out and missed the same step, spraining his ankle. He finished the show hobbling around, using the cane he was sporting at the time but for real. Forced him to cancel the next 2 or 3 shows~!

Yeah, this is the concert I was talking about! I thought Prince said he broke his big toe,(referring to the interview on BET Tonight w/Tavis Smiley). Thanks Skibby!nod

Don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing that i'm getting so much joy reading about P's screw-ups!!!

On the Buffalo aftershow last year during Paisley Park he plays the wrong chord on guitar after the looong intro. You then hear him ask 'what chord is that'. Clearly heard on the bootleg.

Also during the piano intro to Anna Stesia from Livesexy Dortmund 88 Prince plays the wrong chords the first few times...

Also there a few examples of P forgetting lines to Diamonds and Pearls during the D&P tour 1992. On both the Melbourne, Australia bootleg and the soundboard Earl's Court boot leg you hear P sing the wrong line or just mumble and it's up to Rosie to correct him and put him back on track...very funny!

Another one...

On the nice soundborad boot 'This is My Night/What is Hip' show from the DNA Lounge 1993 during the Sexy Dancer intro Prince asks for the snare to start the song but nothing! He then has to wait four bars before very clearly saying 'snare' to kick things along.

I might give it a rest for now...there are hundres more people - keep em coming!!!

JOTY Tour 07/26/97 Philadelphia

I just saw this tape last night.Probably the most hilarous part of this show is when Prince makes the big mistake of inviting a woman on stage to dance. When she does, she proceeds to dance like a wild woman, rolling around on the floor and proceeds to lift her skirt showing her cellulite riddled ass in a thong. She than saunters over to Prince's piano where Prince is standing on thinking he's safe. When she starts to grab for him, Prince jumps off scared shitless!! Prince than yells for security.Well it doesn't end there, she goes to the front of the stage squats down and proceeds to pull a rose through the crack of her ass like it was some magic trick! ill She then throws the rose into the audience and dances some more till Security finally escorts her off.

That's hilarious. Reminds me a little of a paticular girl we have at PP who always insists being on stage.

How is the quality of the video? I love the JOTY tour and the Baltimore show is probably my favorite concert video of all time.

As for the topic I will add that I once saw Prince break his necklace holding the diamond symbol that he wore for about a year with his guitar at PP. The chain was so long it kept getting tangled and finally he went to pull of the guitar and the chain broke. From my vantage point in the front row I really wished that the diamond symbol would have bounced to me because I would have been GONE before P knew what had happened wink

At a Paisley show the power went completely dead 3 or 4 times on the band before they just gave up. They had just moved the stage and something just wasn't working right.

It was kind of funny the band would begin grooving and then it would just suddenly die.

I should get off this thread because I've seen P perform hundreds of times and I could be here all day. It's the stuf that goes wrong that can make a show great IMO.

There's two versions of this show circulating among collectors. One shot w/ 2 cameras and the one that I have that's shot w/ one.The one to get is the two cam one because it's edited together and looks professional. I think his JOTY tour were some of his best too. I also have the Madison Sq. Garden gig and it's shot w/ 2 cams and it's one of my favorites.

Did anybody see the 1980 show in NYC, The Ritz. During "Gotta Broken Heart Again", he pops a string and does an awful guitar solo because the thing falls out of tune.

i'm not sure if this is something that went wrong ...

at the Palladium show in Hollywood back in april of ... 2001, right when Prince came onstage to start playing for the song Uptown, he looked like was trying to pull a ring off his finger (dang! can't remember which hand). he pulled and pulled on it, then threw it onto the ground. it bounced off the stage and fell into that little 'fenced' area before the crowd.

always wondered why he threw his ring onto the ground. i just figured then that he couldn't play his guitar with it on.

Prince: "Thank you baby...thank you BABY. Now go on backstage and put some drawers on!"

CLASSIC moment. Get the pause button ready and watch his face when she first starts shedding clothes..when he's standing right next to her. He does this horrified look and then holds his chest. Can't explain it better than that but it's hilarious!!

How about the 2nd Arsenio Performance when the prince album came out. He trys to burn a bunch of newspapers with articles that were baggin' on him at the end of the "My Name Is Prince" opening song, and can't get the fire started.. They must have played the "MNIP" loop about 7 times while he's trying to light it.

He also slipped during one of the songs...he recovered well though with a lil' leg sweeping move on the floor and gave the cutest lil' look afterward, as if to say...phew LOL

I've seen Prince many times in concert and he has given many flawless, awesome Concerts! Who can guess his total performances since '1999' in 1982 around the world, 500-1000? Anyway theres bound to be some mishaps as many times as hes performed!

Arsenio Hall show 1993 for the Symbol album.

After "The Max" the band kept jammin for a while, the show was off air, Prince called the audience to join him on stage (much to the dismay of the show security). Just about everyone came up, and I was going to thank Prince for the great show, possibly shake the man's hand. I was about 5 feet away from him when the raised stage collapsed. It was a drop of probably 2 to 3 feet, but enought to knock just about everyone off thier feet. Prince went down under a pile of fans and his security team rushed to his aid, being none too gentle throwing people out of the way and off of Prince. Looked like Mayte got mobbed too, couldnt tell for sure but she looked pissed and was looking at the people being ushered away from her. (My only thought was maybe someone grabbed her during the pile up, from the look on her face, but who knows???).

Once everything calmed down, the show security came out and said that someone had stolen Prince's "Gun-mic" and Tony M.'s mic (bless the man for trying to get the mic from old T). They pleaded with the audience to return them, cuz they were one-of-a-kind (which I find hard to believe). No one stepped up, so security said that "You may as well give it up now, cuz you have to go thru a metal detector on the way out and it WILL be found. At that point a guy steps up and returns the mic, and if I remember correctly, the same guy had BOTH mics.

I got into the show thru a friend who was a page/security for Arsenio Hall show at Paramound Studios. He said that the part about the metal detector was a bluff, and if the guy hadnt returned it, he would have got away with it.

On a side note, there was much going on when the show went to commercial. Prince threw the pictures taken from the kodac instant camera into the audience. The ones shown at the end of the show could not possibly have been the same ones. After taking the last of the pics, Prince actually threw the camera into the audience. No one was expecting it and I'm very surprised no one got nailed in the head with it.

At the begining of the show, when they played the TV news clip from "My name is prince" video, the band missed its cue, and they had to do it over again.

Before the show came back from commercial, right before he played The Morning Papers, the audience was supposed to be quiet, Prince was sitting at the piano in the dark with his head down. People in the audience kept on shouting out to him "I love U prince", etc. Finally he looked up and kind of mouthed "Thank you" and put his finger to him lip in a "shhh" motion. (all this done with what looked like a genuine smile, he seemed very happy that day.)

After the song, Mayte was walking back stage ahead of him in the long white sheet she was wrapped in dragging behind her. Prince picked up the back of the sheet and was lifting it up and trying to look underneath. Mayte didnt catch on right away, but finally swatted him away.

Electric Chair SNL performance, watch his mouth he says "to commit the primes of passion" and then knocks with his mouth to kind of cover it up.

At the Glam Slam show after the VH-1 Honors Tommy screws up right before "Interactive" and before "Days of Wild" by missing his cues and by playing the wrong samples.
