RSD - The Legendary Recordings, 1975-1985 94 East Featuring Prince

https://recordstoreday.co...01975-1985

This is it Prince related for RSD:

The Legendary Recordings, 1975-1985
94 East Featuring Prince

Edit: Looks like this is UK only on the specialist re-issue label Charly Records.

Full UK RSD list can be seen here: https://recordstoreday.co.uk/rsd-list

And USA list here: https://recordstoreday.co...alReleases

Completely agree, really boring release that we have all heard before.

such a missed opportunity yet again.

RSD could have been an outlet for some exciting releases

We could have had Camille Album, High on Vinyl perhaps Roadhouse Garden

or even companion releases for Purple Rain , albums by The Time, Appolonia 6

or Modernaire on 12" Coloured Vinyl

this is not on sony or warner you dillweeds this is just the same shit that's been released on cd in the past. this doesn't preclude an actual RSD release this year, not that i think there will be anything interesting officially.

I kind of blame this album for why more fans don't care about his songwriting/production work. They usually get spammed with this one when they're new fans, probably get hype at the description, then fall flat when they actually put it on.

He only wrote one track on this album, but I swear this sours them into believing his other hundreds of give-aways are equally uneventful.

No need to be rude dear (calling us all Dillweeds šŸ˜† )but you are right itā€™s not an ā€œofficialā€ release, then neither was the original 94 East on CD in the 80ā€™s (or was it the 90ā€™s?).

Thereā€™s still the Vaultā€¦old friends 4 sale official vinyl release next week to tide us over, and there may be somethings separate that the estate/record companies release at some point this year. Remember RSD is on 20 April this year, which must be a difficult time for the family, being a day before coinciding with the anniversary of Princeā€™s death. So releasing anything around that date might not feel right for anyone involved.

Yes disappointing nothing different in Prince world for RSD but letā€™s not judge things too harshly just yet for this year. Thereā€™s also the court stuff going on too that might be having an effect on releases.

Who cares about the Vault on vinyl ? Is there really someone in the world who will actually play it? The sound can't be better sourced than the one released on CD.

And even if it could, it won't.

...And they even have the nerve to call it "Legendary" lol

I've always seen these just like the Jimi Hendrix recordings backing Curtis Knight or Little Richard, marketed with fancy artwork trying to fool the compulsive buyer. Sure Prince was there and had his input palying this or that and with a writing credit, but this stuff ain't more than anecdotic.

Doesn't this cement that Pepe's only claim to fame is his association to Prince?
Pretty shameless how he keeps milking these recordings not by the music but by the Prince brand lol

These are strong tracks. If this album had been released in the late 70s,it might have caught on.

I'm a bit suppripsed that there won't be a prince reissue for RSD but maybe the estate has bigger plans for the prince album. Once again, there's lack of communication from the estate so we can only guess what the next releases might be.

I think the plan was to release both D&P SDE and prince SDE last year but didn't happen cuz the D&P SDE was postponed from July to October. Unfortunately it seems like they will only focus on PR this year.

"Diamonds & Love" SDE was the completed set with both D&P and prince. They just removed all the prince material and released what was left as D&P SDE.
