Enough Time For Another Super Deluxe Before The End Of 2020 ?

I'm very much looking forward to Sign O The Times Super Deluxe but Warner is losing the catalogue except soundtracks at the end of the year.

Would there be enough time to release another Super Deluxe before the end of the year ?

Perhaps a Dirty Mind Super Deluxe or a The Gold Experience Super Deluxe ?

They could announce it in early October and relesase the set in early December for example....

Probably just wishful thinking I guess....

Thoguhts ?

The pattern has been, Legacy reissues, Estate release (SDE, Originals, etc), Legacy reissues, Estate release, Legacy reissues....and so on. Chance are no. They'd be crazy to think they could release box sets and that the average Joe would be able to buy such expensive sets that close to each other.

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

I hope that there will be a "surprise" at the end of the year, Originals volume 2 or a live, the Rebels?...

I don't think average Joe is buying any SDE.

If I were Sony I’d capitalise on SOTT:SD by releasing Crystal Ball, The Truth and Kamasutra next.

I'm predicting a December 2020 release... either another Originals, something live, or some kind of dumb one-off a la P&M83

They will probably do only the famous albums, and there are not many left.

Parade maybe.

Diamonds and pearls?

I would be surprised if they do those year.

Do you really think there is a market for Gold Experience or Dirty Mind?

I think there is a VERY large audience, relatively speaking, for DIRTY MIND.

I think this is what will happen. I don’t expect to see another massive SDE-style thing just a few months after the last one. And there’s only been one round of Legacy reissues so far this year. CB/TT/K followed by a D&P/Love Symbol/Come round early next year seems logical to me.

You'd think with fans asking for it over and over again on the primary Prince fan forum across a period of four years this would be a no-brainer. In fact it's probably the Prince release with the most mainstream appeal they could muster - packed with hits and a few covers, "last tour" appeal to cash in on the bandwagon jumpers who love artists as soon as they pass, inoffensive/easy listening enough to be sold on the counter at Starbucks across North America. Why are they dragging their feet? From a sales standpoint, this should have been priority 1.

Maybe an April 2021 (5 years) release? More wishful thinking probably.

Sound reasoning. I agree. We've had a flood of reissues, the "I Feel For You" single, and SOTT SDE within the calendar year. That's a ton for even devoted fans to spend, much less casual music consumers.

Nope. Not happening. Look for either ATWID or Parade Deluxe next mid to late next year. My guess it will be Parade. They don't want to saturate the market. The SOTT super deluxe will be ALLOT to digest,

This year.......I don't think so. Folks are probably taking out loans as we speak for SOTT Deluxe.

I expect Parade to be next year. Hopefully with the Detroit show remastered on DVD

No on a Super Deluxe Edition but the rumors have been that Apple TV's documentary on First Ave 83 is finished and Warner is going to do a CD/DVD release of the concert.

This has been on the horizon forever so you think Apple would want to get it out sooner rather than later.

Or maybe Originals 2.

Wasn't the Singles Box enough of a surprise? Was for my wallet, so I had to bow out, as I am just an Average Joe that just bought the Super Deluxe set on vinyl. So... no more releases this year or I'll be REALLY cross.

I don't think they can do a ATWID Super Deluxe because Sony gets the rights to reissue all albums except the soundtracks so that's why I'm hoping for another Super Deluxe before the end of the year.

I think we will see Parade Super Deluxe next year some time and I guess eventually also Batman and Graffiti Bridge Super Deluxe. Those three are the only three they can do unless they do something together with Warner.

I wish they could do Super Deluxe for all the regular released albums....maybe sometime in the distant future.....

I'm curious as to how they'd assemble an Around The World In A Day SDE.

It feels like a brief pause between Purple Rain and Parade.

Which vault songs would you place as being specific to that album, as I can't think of many.

I couldn't see it stretching more than three discs, including the original album, the singles, and demos.

Unless there really was a configured Roadhouse Garden album, that we're all oblivious to.

there was a record called Katrina's Paper Dolls somewhere along that time (at least some Dutch and US music mags in 1985-1986 meentioned this title as being an unreleased album when ATWIAD dropped.)

No chance BUT there surely is much scope for inbetween releases that only the geekiest of the geekiest purple fam would buy! Of course I refer to rehearsal clips, jams, live clips etc charged at $x.xx per download as per NPG music club.

Logically, Crystal Ball/The Truh should be re released by Sony by December, following the SOTT deluxe.
.
Thus, the tracks that should have been on the original triple album Crystal Ball/SOTT project wouldn't be orphans anymore.
.
Sadly, neither Sony nor WB has the rights to release Kamasutra.

Not cost effective. Besides, they are probably working on Parade Super Deluxe for next year. Gold Experience wont get a re-release until the legal suit is resolved. (TMBGITW law suit).

The Sony re releases sellls like 20.000 worldwide, divided by 12 tracks the claimer of the rights would get like 100 dollars.
I can't believe this is what holding Gold to be re-released.
