I don't understand why some people on this site are always wanting to change Prince's albums. Leave his shit alone! The albums are how he wanted them to be.

Let people enjoy his music in whatever way makes them happy, it's not stopping you from enjoying the original as is.

lately, i've been enjoying it like this:

Interactive

Days Of Wild
Now
Endorphinmachine
Shhh
Acknowledge Me
The Most Beautiful Girl in the World
Ripopgodazippa
Dolphin
319
Billy Jack Bitch
I Hate U
Gold

which came about because i've been listening to a lot of the glam slam shows
and he did 'interactive/days of wild/now' quite a few times in that order and it
sounds great.

Perfect. Love this version.

Yeah... the Love Symbol album and this one are two LPs that could have been really great, but got kind of butchered by Prince's pretensions and (in the latter case) battles with Warners.

As ever with Prince, there was enough first-rate material for a great album in 1994, but The Gold Experience is not a great album -- it's just a 'good' album, with some bad moments mixed in with several great ones. The "NPG Operator" segues are annoying and were never going to age well. I don't think the album starts well, as "Pussy Control" is funny but too silly for an artist at age 36 or whatever, and I have never been able to get into "Endorphinmachine" (Prince seemed to love this song and played it all the time - however, it annoys me when it's on and I have to switch it off).

The album improves from there, and the last three songs are the best three.

Yeah...I've soured on P Control over the years but when the album came out I loved it. I agree with you though. I actually think "Shh" would have made a better opening track just due to the thunderous opening and all the places it takes you. Certain parts of Love Symbol haven't aged well either and we all know about Tony M but, at the time, I was happy to see Prince keeping up with the times on some level and it's REAL hard for me to hate on either record since they brought back those dense layers I always loved about his best work.

Where Batman, GB and D&P did not and felt, to some degree, like he was on auto pilot a little bit.

These 2 releases we're now combining in the discussion felt more rich, creative, organic and experimental in ways that got me excited again and reminded me that, at the very least, my man wasn't coasting and was changing up his game. They were less SAFE, far more challenging than anything I'd spun since Lovesexy and just passed The Headphone Test better and I'll still go to bat for either one.

...

Fun story related to Love Symbol:

I was outside my office on a smoke break and some delivery driver next door was blasting The Flow. I went over and chatted him up since I NEVER hear that played and he was spinning the whole Symbol disc in his truck. We bullshitted for a moment. Made me feel good somehow. Wonder if he posts here?

But the question is, would you change anything on TGE?

Remove the shiny production sheen, get rid of all the segues...make it sound more organic.

So badly brickwalled.

Exactly.I don't see why some orgers are offended by threads like these. It's just a fun "what if" discussion, nothing more.Don't worry, nobody is "changing" any album....we're just discussing what songs could be removed/replaced/switched around to make it a better album,in OUR opinion.

If you don't like these type of threads, simply ignore it and move on to the next thread.

I think the bootleg trade has a lot to do with it. Back in the 80s, we just heard the albums, but once we got to hear the bootlegs, we started to think: how could he have left this great song off the album? Especially with TGE because many songs were known through radio shows and concerts and bootlegs before the album was out. So TGE wasn't really a new Prince/Artist album in the way his previous albums were.

If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

People here get offended by fucking everything. You kinda just gotta roll with it it seems.

Waht you're suggesting is a bridge too far. The org is where fans go to get their panties in a knot.

Also, I am deeply offended by your post.
