Ok from the DEA files page 40. It looks like the medications they gave was the sodium chloride which would probably be the IV.

THEN

Does it look like they gave him percocet? For pain, when he didn't complain of any pain? Did they give him a script??

I think it means percocet is what he admitted to taking for pain.

I doubt they would give a percocet script to someone who OD and refused treatment.

I would think that too, but they are being sued sooo??

This sounds awful, Penny. I read it this morning and had to stop and read on later as I could feel his pain and yours. I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I wish there was anything that could be done.

In general I was gonna say (and I know it is slightly OT again but I don't care) that you guys please all look after yourselves and your loved ones.

Last Saturday I met an old friend from school after almost 20 years. We updated each other on the people we are still in touch with and she told me that one of our friends died last year. He fell out the window.

It was such a shock, at first I didn't believe her. He and I shared a birthday, he was an artist, a designer and sooo gifted. I had last met him in 2011 when I had managed to organize a little meet-up after many years along with 2 of our best friends from school (which also happened to be the 2 people I had gone out with the night I first met P)

After I came home Saturday I had to message one of the 2 to ask if the terrible news was true and it was. And the story got worse - he had fallen out the window of the room that he had been preparing for his first child.

I hadn't seen or heard of him after 2011 and didn't even know he was married and/or about to be a dad.

I know it is impossible to always stay in touch with people but it really made me see again how quickly it can be over. This and my mother's death anniversary yesterday... it wasn't an easy week so far.

Please take good care of yourselves.

Thank you Cat.

I'm sorry for your loss too! hug It is heartbreaking that he was getting his baby's room ready and that happened.

Take away from DEA files:
86 pages were released, 97 were withheld.
Prince likes orange juice only if it is fresh squeezed.
He seemed pretty healthy, but we can't be sure w/o blood work.
He said he took 2 percs. and 2 of the other pills (presumably in the Bayer bottle).
He had no health insurance.
It was chilling to see his signature on the Refusal of Treatment form, it was like signing his death warrant.
sad

He said he took 2 and 2 after he said he took 3 and 1. The doctor needed to know what was in his body not what was in that bottle.

I think the people around him tried and tried and tried to get him to stop but bottom line it’s up to him.

If they took the fifth, in order not to incriminate themselves, what would that tell you?

Basically, what they did was take the fifth...they left, lawyered up immediately and refused any further attempts to question them or to make statements. This was not helpful to the investigation and apparently that did not matter to them. hmmm [Edited 8/1/18 7:58am]

It's very possible that some people who had Prince's best interests at heart, people who Prince valued as friends, did illegal things at P's request.

The best things to do for Prince, the best path to take, can be argued...but a person can be wrong about that and still have someone's best interests at heart. It's incredibly easy. For example, I make mistakes as a parent all the time. It's a tough job, LOL.

Don't you think Prince would have wanted such a person, a person whose friendship he valued, to be cautious and promptly get a lawyer?

I ask this of all who are are so upset with associates. Why is there so much energy to follow suspicions vs. so relatively little concern that Prince may well have been pained at the idea of something bad happening to someone he cared for?

There are many, many cases where U.S. drug policy has been anything but rational. Awful, highly disproportionate things have often happened to the "little guy" in the name of the U.S. war on drugs.

Oh my gosh...where to begin. First of all, no one can speak for Prince because he is dead. He is dead because the people he hired to care for him looked the other way instead of making a few phone calls. Who else was in the position to help him? No one because no one, including his family, was allowed to speak to him. You make mistakes as a parent, as we all do, but if my child was addicted to drugs, you can bet I would not stand by and watch him slowly die, I don't care what he said. At least TRY instead of waiting until there is no way back.
These "friends" were on his payroll. P. even said real friends are not on your payroll, or words to that effect.
So, in your mind, it is OK to do illegal things simply because someone requests it? You and I differ there, and a real friend would not put you in a position to make that choice. We all have our opinions, and I respect the fact that you feel the need justify what the people around him did, but you may also try to understand those of us that cannot justify what those around him did NOT do.
Peace.

Disagree. I don't see where anyone says they tried and tried and tried to help him, until the day before he passed. You may want to reread all of the interviews in the IR. Nowhere does anyone say anything to that affect. Rather, everyone knew but did nothing. I would love to think they did, and if you have any proof of that, at least it would give me hope that maybe someone really cared about this man!!

I guess its fair to say that Prince has joined the ranks of these celebrities, mysterious or controversial deaths that remain without closure or are still having investigations reopened and closed, reopened and closed, even after many decades have passed. At least that's how I've come to see it. The conspiracy theories for many are just endless, the obsessive need for indivisuals to have their preferred theory to be proven to be correct, endless, yet none have a final decision. Makes me sad but the reality is what it is. All details may never be fully known, no "conclusion" may never be the correct one. The world yet keeps turning. I hope people don't make themselves insane over something that is completely out of their control.

BUT it speaks volumes about what kind of people Prince surrounded himself with in the end. NO ONE FORCED him to go without proper, professional legal/ financial advisors; or property maintanance managers or a medical team that could deal with his pain and addiction. As someone posted previously, he had the resources and could have had them on his payroll to have been available 24/7.

And, sorry to say, but this pattern, these poor choices were characteristic of the way Prince always lived his life. The sadness and waste just became undeniable after Moline.

He was a brilliant musician but his personal life was a shambles since childhood. Really. Whom did he trust? He got rid of a crack management team in the 80s and never recovered from it. What is that saying about having a fool for a client when one represents oneself?

Does bolded mean that P may not have been a real friend and/or a caring employer?

Regarding other people present at Paisley Park on the day of P's death, we don't know that they did nothing to reach out for help the day of that crisis, or in the times surrounding that or other crises. We have some records, but we still don't know everything about what was done or said. They may have done more or less than we might guess.

As for associates in general, Prince had many associates, and they are, for the most part, being painted with a broad brush. The range of human nature is wide, and that is extremely likely to be true among so many associates. I'm wondering why I see so many angry posts toward associates vs. so few gratitude posts. Acts of caring toward Prince mean a lot too, don't they?

I respect your opinion, and I hope people will respect any posts I make commenting on what is extremely likely to also reflect reality. I'll try not to address anyone in particular from now on. Truly sorry about that! It was a mistake on my part. If there's one thing that shines through, it's that people on here love P and his music.

Imagine you have been world-famous since you were a teenager. You made hundreds of millions of dollars. And your industry was leaving you behind, no matter what you did, which meant the money wasn't coming in, fellow musicians weren't coming around to pay homage, and the fans ... Well, the hardcore were still there, but you weren't making any new ones. You had no one to speak of whom you could rely upon, or confide in. And you were sick, physically and emotionally, with an addiction you couldn't kick. Everything you built your life around had disappeared. So you packed up, moved back to Minnesota full-time, and started on the final journey. It all seems so clear now, but who of us knew that was what was happening? Who paid any attention? Who cared?

Was thinking of your post about your mother while starting to read your response here, and our thoughts came together at the end. Life can be unbelievably cruel.

I'm often terrible about staying in touch. Too easy to fall into that, especially with the way life can make us feel like we will drown in a sea of mundane, and not so mundane, details.

People doing things like organizing that get together you mentioned...so precious. To me, things like that, things where people reach out and embrace one another, are the flip side to life's cruelties.

Synchronicity... thanks for thinking of me and my mother. I think it taught me early on that life cannot only be short but that time and health are our most important values. Or they should be. It is not about money or careers or being someone and I've never understood people who live for those things.

The 'mundane' moments are so much more important, provided they are real. It's not about small talk and feeling obliged to keep in touch with family or friends but about truly being present with the other one. To take time, to listen. That was something that Prince didn't have enough in his life either. Most people came - and still come - to take from him, not to give. They don't care for the person but the persona and the prestige.

We all KNOW how all these other celebs died, but there is still talk, anger, rumor, theories, investigations going on for all of them. I mean, the truth still remains that regardless of all the talk, there are crucial pieces of information that are missing, it doesn't matter how deep or intelligently one looks at the details, it isn't going to end. It's happened over and over again. But some will drive themselves mad if they don't back away from some of this expecting that they'll crack the case wide open with their theory.

Time keeps on slipping into the future...

No purple fingernails will get you close to Prince and it won't help him and his case, no happy happy happy cruise will bring him back to life or even only honor his talent and his legacy.

All those things are just happenings, just gatherings for people who want to belong to something in a way. You could take P's face off and it would have the same effect.

The same has been going in the MJ community since long before he even died. I mean I've also met some lovely people among the fans and I am still friends with some but this is really only a handful. The others all turned out to be more or less disturbed souls who close their eyes to reality. We all have our issues and we all grieve in our own ways but what I see there is not grief but greed.

To your first question, yes, in Ps state of mind, in the end, he was thinking about his next ingestion of pills, probably not about the well being of others. That is how an addict's mind generally works. I agree with the rest of your post, with the exception of your "commenting on what is extremely likely to also reflect reality". Unless we were there, we can only go by what is in the report, the rest is pure speculation on all of our parts (unfortunately). But that is what we're doing, freely expressing our own thoughts, sometimes based on the facts and sometimes just based on our own hopes and experiences.
Thank you for your last comments and yes, you're so right about the love for P. around here! grouphug

Hence why I only limit my purchases to things that actually mean something to me.

Time keeps on slipping into the future...

This moment is all there is...

We know why P. died, and if there is "anger" as you put it, it may be that some do not feel that justice was served. Someone gave P. those pills, and some feel the investigation was substandard. So far, I see no insanity on this thread, have no fear. But you are right, no "conclusion" WILL ever be the correct one because none of us were there. On the other hand, If people want to explore the facts and try to make some sense of it all, there is nothing wrong with that...to each his own.

Gotcha'. So true and so frustrating! I just don't think anyone here takes their case-cracking abilities that seriously, but I can only speak for myself. Point taken, though!

Take away from DEA files: 86 pages were released, 97 were withheld. Prince likes orange juice only if it is fresh squeezed. He seemed pretty healthy, but we can't be sure w/o blood work. He said he took 2 percs. and 2 of the other pills (presumably in the Bayer bottle). He had no health insurance. It was chilling to see his signature on the Refusal of Treatment form, it was like signing his death warrant. sad

And that he hasn't attempted suicide in the past.

I've tried to ask before but some people needed the mystery of their 21 April date, that's why I will try again:

Are there any documented records of the aspirin and wine incident? I am not talking of Ronin Ro's or Alex Hahn's book (which is based on hearsay, is not accurate in many points and I wonder what his sources really were - he also asked me about things), nor Mayte's book or the nannies' daytime talk stories?

I mean actual records like the DEA thing we have now?

Again, the people I spoke to had never heard of it, nor that he had heart palpitations.

In other words, did that incident (suicide attempt or not) actually happen?

It's an honest question as I still don't know where the story came from.

There was a CNN Interview with Mayte where she said that the incident did happen in April, but she is not sure if it really was April 21st and she didn't say anything about suicide. Also, I might add, I don't think there are actual records like the DEA thing.

I am sure there are other sources other than Mayte and the nannies to confirm or deny it. One can't throw a story out like that to the public if it is completely false without someone stating that it did not happen. As of now, no one has denied it.

The doctor at the hospital highly recommended that blood work be done on P. She told him several times that it could be dangerous, even life threatening, to not run tests (checking for organ damage, find out what he took, etc). Each time, he refused the treatment, so they had him sign a document to that effect. Hospital CYA.

There was also an incident involving too much medication having been taken around 2010/2011. I'm not going to put it out there who confirmed it to me, because it was said off the record, but multiple bandmembers confirmed that it happened on tour.
