Artists who recorded with Prince who never released the song?

I'm thinking of like Rihanna who recorded with Prince for her last CD but chose not to put it on her album. Have to wonder if she regrets that now?

Who else? Was it Kendrick Lamar?

Who else??

Rita Oral made the Most Beautiful Thing Remix with Prince, teased it for months, and then it sorta vanished. Now she is a TV game show host so I doubt we will ever see that.

Kinda depends on the terms. If Prince wrote the song, and it hasn't been released elsewhere, then she can't just release it without permission.

If he just produced it, I'm not sure. Sometimes artists need to get permission to appear on work released by another label, but I guess that would just be npg records?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes there's a "first release" thing that forbids one to release a song you've written for the first time without your permission.

Producing I don't think there's any restriction.

Playing on the song (and being credited as such) requires label permission but given that Prince wasn't "under exclusive contract with" NPG Records (he WAS NPG Records) I'd assume anyone is free to release anything he's played on.

Yup regarding first release.

.

I'm sure the production or "featured on" wouldn't be the problem.

.

Could also be that people are just being cautious about releasing anything he's worked on. Or that the song was unfinished or that she didn't think it was a fit for her (at least at the time). Great song or not, if it sticks out too much compared to the rest of the record, might not be a great idea to include it.

He had made himself an employee of NPG LLC so these other artist are going to have to go to the estate for permission. It it one of the things that I think is weird about the Ian Boxhill stituation.

Even if he did own the songs Prince is listed as a writer so how can he put out music without the estates involvement.

I have it on good authority that in the summer of '83 Prince recorded an entire album with

William Shatner.

If Kylie said he was sex on a stick then what what is the problem with us repeating it. This idea that none can mearly mention what was already stated is some bullshit.

Grow up! Grown people have sex and this type of stuff goes on in the industry. Long time for the public to stop being naive about the casting couch or do you think all the women Prince worked with were talented?

Not to say it is right but do not assume that all parties were not fully aware of what deal was.

Some of these women have very honest they wanted to get with him and I bet he was not turning to many of them down.

Maroon 5? Seems like an odd one, I'm sure I read an interview where they said they jammed a lot with Prince at some point.

Extra Martika tracks

Tamar!?

I bet Madonna has a few more Prince tracks unreleased.
