They can't even get the Purple Rain resissue right and they are talking about holograms? How about releasing the hundreds/thousands of finished audio and video from the vault first? We don't have vault classics like Love Thy Will be Done, but they want to do some creepy stuff like this? He left us his vault. There is no need to invent new stuff.

You go Donny.

I'm with the other poster who said "No, not right now". But if it's done well it might be an option in a few years (says the one who can't even go to PP yet).

Whether we like it or not, we have to remain open to ideas that will help maintain the legacy. We have to. No point in biting off your nose to spite your face.

I have a better idea: they should turn Purple Rain into a Broadway musical. If it's done right,it could keep his music alive and generate lots of money.

I'd much rather see the actual video footage of REAL Prince from the 21 concerts at the London O2 Arena.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Elisa Fiorillo claims Prince told them no hologram. I believe her because he said it in a 1998 guitar world interview. He called holograms demonic.

It's tacky, but if it's just using the technology to show existing performances, I think that's pretty cool. Is it that much different to showing a concert movie on the big screen? It's just that but done with modern tech. It's when we get in to new performances/new music etc that we're in dangerous and icky territory. Might as well have him doing a TV ad for Corvettes at that point and dueting with Justin Bieber.

The Estate has the final say. It's not Elisa's business. And if Prince didn't want any of this as Elisa is saying then he should've put his wishes in a legal document.

All that music, recorded concert footage, rehearsal. All rotting away in the vault. We don't need or want a hologram.. he left us enough of the real deal.

I don't want to see Prince in a hologram. shake I want to see real video footage of him performing. That would be more real to me than an apparition.

Then why did he, PUBLICLY, say this about his vault material? (should load at the 2:21 mark)

"One day, someone will release them. I don't know that I'll get to release them", is how he replied to a question about releasing the vault material. Sounds pretty clear to me. Then again, I am a fan, a mere bystander to this ridiculous tug of war regarding who knew Prince, and his "real wishes", best.

Look we all know Prince would have found the idea of a hologram extremely tacky. Just because he didnt leave a will doesn't give anybody the right to do with his legacy as they wish. Its called respecting a person after death and honourig their memory.

I agree with Elisa.

well, the first part of her post is wrong. Prince clearly said that the music in the vault should be released after he was gone.

As for a hollogram, if done right that certainly sounds better than Prince impersonators. So many people never got to see him live.

You'd really rather watch someone else play Prince than watch Prince - even as a hologram?

To me, that's crazy.

Also, how in the world would a hollogram be "demonic"? It's really the same thing as watching the video that the image came from.

Exactly. It's like a 3-D movie - without the glasses.

All this uproar over nothing. Do people think a hologram is the same as cloning or artificial intelligence or something? Because it isn't.

This is where it becomes difficult. He was on record saying no to this. Of course others might say he didn’t want his music on streaming services either. To me these are all judgement calls but is there really a demand for a Prince hologram?

She’s doubling down on it on Twitter. Basically saying what if he finished something but didn’t like it. Those are judgement calls someone will have to make. To me no profanity is an easy call to make but deciding what’s good no what’s not and would he want it out...much tougher call to make.

Your post indicates you don't know what it is - and Prince's statement indicates he didn't know, either.

Of course, there'd be a demand for it - if people understood it. How do I know? Because people have been begging for more Prince concert videos for years - and that's what this is.

Personally, I would love to see the 1986 birthday show as a hologram. Or the 2009 Montreux shows or Lovesexy Dortmund or 1981 Ritz or any number of aftershows. I'm not sure the technology is there yet - but it'd be cool af.
