Thanks for the clarification. I don't buy from Tidal, so I wouldn't know if they were streaming Prince's music before his untimely passing. I only go by what the court documents are stating.

Yeah, not only were they streaming the bulk of his catalog, but beginning in September 2015 they were offerning the previously NPGMC download only albums (Xpectation, C-Note, The Chocolate Invasion, and The Slaughterhouse). There were agreements and support. His last release was on Tidal three days before he died (the live Black Sweat from Atlanta that went up on April 18). Now, there might not have been a contract, or at least not one that actually required a whole lot from Prince--Prince had been bragging for years that he didn't get conned into contracts. But there was clearly a certain amount of agreement and a working relationship that went up until his death. I don't doubt at all that Jay-Z thought that should count for something when it came to the negotiations for the catalog, and I'm sure he felt a little betrayed by the estate--that doesn't mean he has a legal leg to stand on. But if Prince had lived, I strongly suspect the relationship would have continued.

.

Interesting. Obviously, Prince was cool with the deal he had with JayZ. All I can say is, I hope they can back it up.

JayZ's goal in life is to become a billionaire. Good for him.

.

So, streaming an artists music without authorization is okay? Tidal/JayZ makes all these claims, yet they have come forth with nothing so far. Where's the contract he had with Prince? No receipts? confused

.

I don't know about you, but when I purchase anything (clothes, house/ mortgage contracts, shoes, cars, music, concerts) whatever it may be; I have receipts to show the transaction occurred and that I paid for those items, and I have no problem with providing documentation, if asked.

The fans keep saying TIDAL has proof but TIDAL has NOT proven anything LMAO

I think the reason why TIDAL is dragging is because there isn't a contract.

.

Ding! Ding!! lol.

.

That's how I feel about it too! I mean, if there is proof that something exists, why not come forward with it? They are just biding their time, which looks very suspicious to me.

Outside of pure legal reasons, and Londell being able to void the deal to make revenue and a lucrative fee for himself elsewhere, you do not require any documentation to be able to comprehend Prince's wishes. You need only look at all the exclusive music Prince delivered to Tidal, which continued until only days before his passing, his tweets and his statements in interviews.

I joined Tidal because Prince stated that the service would be the destination for exclusive music and his back catalog. Prince clearly gave Tidal those albums, some of which were rare NPGMC releases (where the hell do people think Tidal acquired albums like C-Note and RaveIN2?) during his lifetime. I know because I was there, listening to these albums and waiting expectantly for each weeks 'Purple Pick'. Prince was actively promoting and providing content to Tidal in clear awareness. To state anything to the contrary is for ulterior motives and purposes that have nothing to do with Prince's wishes. Spotify might be lucrative for the estate and Londell, but it was something Prince was opposed to and very vocally.

.

Fair enough. I'm not doubting that Prince wasn't in agreement, but what I question is "which" music Tidal was authorized to stream? And, if they were streaming P's music unlawfully, then there needs to be some accountability here. JayZ/Tidal/RocNation has a lot to answer for. That's all I'm trying to say. According to the court docs, NPG was not aware of this deal; which has really stirred-up a lot of issues here........who said what? who's on first? Who's on second? It's a hot mess!! lol lol

I think the reason why TIDAL is dragging is because there isn't a contract.

They are not dragging their feet. They hava a court date set and they say they have a signed equity agreement. Even if they did not have anything signed they sent him money and he sent them content it is called an implied agreement. All Tidal has to do is show they paid him but do you really think they paid infour payments of $750k even after he died without any signed agreement? Your problem is that you do not realize that Tidal is a subsidary of Asperio do you think the parent company would be okay with paying out money with no contract? Not too mention the media coverage and actual delivery of content that makes it obvious that Tidal was not going against Prince's wishes.

What people need to be more concerned about is the fact that Tidal is saying someone had POA to sign some documents on Prince's behalf if Tidal provides proof of that and we find out who that person was well the shoe is going to drop on all this mystery surounding his last days.

Because I do not belive he would have given anyone POA unless his heatlh was compromised.

[Edited 7/7/17 7:17am]

.

I understand. It's all very complicated. If Tidal supplied documentation, then why isn't it on the court website? I guess we will have to wait for the trial.

.

Another big question is; WHO was the POA? eek confused

Because financial information is redacted from the court docs but they have something that allowed this case to get a court date.

The estate claims they don't know anything about the deal because Londell wanted to void the deal in favour of something more lucrative.

In all honesty, everybody at NPG has full awareness of the deal. As I've said a million times before you only need to look at Prince's twitter for evidence of that. How do you propose Tidal acquired Black Sweat live at Atlanta, days before Prince's passing? Why would Prince tweet links to other Piano & Microphone tracks exclusive to Tidal asking for support? We are not discussing material added after Prince's passing here, but exclusive songs and albums provided to Tidal and promoted by Prince when he was alive.

Yes, I think people are forgetting it was Londell that started all this mess by breaking contracts because he knew he could get a commission check. The bank and the court should have had him bill for his time instead of letting him get a piece of the deals.

At this point I cannot take anything LM has to say seriously. According to him UMG can still proceed with their deal with the estate when muliple attorneys have advised them not to.

I sent the link about the Barclays lawsuit were he simply refused to acknowlede that he signed for a loan. Not going to judge him but just think about what sort of person does these things and continues to live in a state of denial.

If he wins he will and have a lot to say unless a gag order is put in or settlement that does not allow him to talk. Someone needs to expose what has been going. A great deal of damage has been done by someone that Prince gave a hugh carreer boost to and it is horrible what has happend with this person on the job for a mere six months.

Less outrage about Tidal and more outrage about a certain lawyer would make sense.

For what's it's worth I'll offer my opinion.

In the business I do, most of the time I make agreements with companies based on their word. It's usually fine but once in awhile it comes back wtih a vengeance.

There have been times when I made an agreement with, say a restaurant, for my advertising services, and then they get cold feet and say I'm a liar and some-sort of criminal for making a deal with nothing in writing.

The "proof" for them to vindicate me is that's there's not a paper agreement on file. Even though the truth is that they made the agreement.

We all know Prince was not fond of agreements written on paper; he preferred a person's word.

So, this takes us to now, I would imagine Jay-Z and Prince did, in fact, have an agreement based on their word.

But, now with no paper.....

I will offer my opinion for what its worth. I didn't think that Tidal had the entire Prince catalog and when I went there before Prince died they only had the most recent music. I didn't see the entire catalog on Tidal till after Prince past. For what its worth, I tried to subscibe to Tidal for the catalog but couldn't get sattisfactory answers to my questions, so I left it alone.

As for Jay-Z, I have yet to see any thing that he has done with his "great" business sense. I saw how he left Def Jam so it is my opinion that he should take a seat and let someone with muisc apprecation deal with the catalog.

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince
