When the snow fell in April the first thing that I thought of was the Art Official Age CD and in particular the song Way Back Home. Then the Fro and the 3rd Eye opened on tweet before his death.

He was telling people that he was leaving.

If you look at his body you could tell he was sick and I don't think it is what has been reported.

nod Not to mention Princestagram...

Shelby doesn't know his private life. Dr Phil (former Oprah couch assistant) said everyone puts on a front in public. Mayte Garcia and Manuela Testolini will know a lot more about his real persona, even if they go back a while. Shelby is sycophantically obfuscating.

She knows his private life more than anybody on this board.

It's true though. Shelby will have not a clue about what's going to transpire from Mayte's bio. And that's gonna tell a lot more than the barely one anecdote she managed to recall from working with Prince. Truth probably hurts. cool

Heartbreaking to lsiten to. I saw a clip from the P&M tour of him playing Purple Rain - it may be from the last live performance - a close up clip..& my God he looked exhausted..like he'd given this performance his one last great push. Dear God how did it end like this.....

I'm not sure how Mayte and her bio got into this conversation. confused How often was Mayte in contact with Prince over the last 10-15 years? Just because Shelby wasn't sleeping with him doesn't mean she's clueless about anything outside of music.

lol There's a case for saying her and Liv Warfield oversing, not mariah carey oversing as in too many notes, more belting out the dynamics oversinging.

Obviously Prince didn't feel that way. I think I'll trust his judgement over yours. wink

Problem is, even Prince has oversung. Take 'The Breakdown' for instance.

Wait for the book and keep an open mind. Shelby didn't tell us anything we didn't already know.

The book is already out. Trust me Mayte sheads no light in the last 20 years of his life but can exploit their child's death and his grief for a dollar.

Of course we know the book would never be coming out if he was alive. Funkenberry says she has a right to tell her side of the story. Um, someone remind me when Prince told his because I obviously missed it.

Bingo....
This is one reason I have a lot of respect for Prince.
He never came out bad mouthing and putting others down to make himself look like the victim or like he was giving to every charity.
He could have written books with his side of the story too...plus none of these people behaved like this when he was alive. But waited until his death to self promote. (Mayte and Van come to mind)
IMO they lost credibility due to this. I would not support either but will support keeping Princes legacy alive.

I don't know if anyone really knew Prince. He seemed to compartmentalize his life, giving a bit here and a bit there. I am sure it was a defense mechanism, learned when he was little to deal with his parents' abandonment of him. In retrospect, even people like us who did not know him personally can see signs of "the end." But none of us could have imagined what happened would have happened - to him of all people.

I honestly don't give a funk about the book. I'm still not sure what it has to do with Shelby...other then there are obviously people here who don't care for certain band members and so those people weren't real friends, don't know anything blah blah blah and the only insight can come from someone he was married to 15+ years ago. rolleyes

I think everyone has the right to tell their story. Why do you all pick and choose who's story is ok to tell and who's isn't?

.

This article is about Shelby's interview about Prince, we've seen where Wendy was interviewed, amoung MANY others. But Lordy have his 1st wife write a book, and you all are going crazy. Other people have already written books, what say you about them?

Loads of people really think that😊 They cannot process in their minds that the elavator has nothing to do with anything.

Wow. Prince was into symbolism. I'm amazed you can't see that... actually i'm not amazed. You've never changed your mind on anything.

I dont have an issue with M wroting a book, I just think its shady to do so so soon but ah well.

If anyone can its her and the other wife. As well as some of the longterm life friends I already listed.

My other comment about funkendissentery was that who cares what his opinion is? he isnt the purveyor of Prices legacy.

--I understand that Prince was into symbolism and that he used the elevator as symbol of going to hell however, what does that have to do with becoming deadly ill and collasping in the elavator. Do you think he planned the exact time and place were he was going to die. I want you to think about that for a minute.

--I really do not care if you do not believe me. The manuscript is going around the Internet and only a nut bar would bother with making this up. I got my head screwed on straight. You go ahead and waste your money buying the book and expecting information from the last 20 years from someone who was not in his life for the last 20.
