I used to be on top of things in the nineties, but then the virus retired to a dorment state. Only to wake up around tours/new releases. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to track down and find Wally, eventually.

Long time lurker here since the purple and black days of Prince.org, a.m.p. and the PPML and this thread finally made me register and post. I have been reading this thread for the last few weeks and when Questlove posted his message about hearing Wally I had some cool discussions with other fans offline about it. Some are members on here and I find it weird that none of them are participating in this thread! At least five of those members claim to have heard Wally back in 2001 when two guys Sy(?) and Malcolm C. hosted some listening parties and at the first celebration at Paisley Park in the parking lot and some said they thought they got the track from old school amper -T-. A couple of these member said they also heard it via Skype in the last years from Neversin. I have read a lot of posts of Neversin on here and knew he was busy trading on some onion site with other fans from here and the old HouseQuake forums. Sadly he shut it down last April and went AWOL . And even though that Broken Faucet thread list he posted here didn't even have Wally on it, I heard from some members here that Wally has been offered to Sabotage and Eye, so we will see. I truly hope it leaks because I would love to finally hear it fully. Anyway cool thread and I understand BigChick on now that Prince isn't around anymore we are in a new era concerning the release of unreleased stuff, but I also understand why people keep this stuff to themselve when there are pirates on the coast and simply keep it so they can trade for other uncirculating stuff. The only answer seems to be the estate but that will probably take years upon years when all the in-fighting is done, so in all honesty I am glad it was sold to bootleggers so we all finally can hear it! If it wasn’t for Sabotage and the like I would never heard any of the unreleased stuff. The sample sounds like it is also mono like the last couple of leaks and probably was sold to bootleggers by the same people. Super exited about the PR Deluxe with the rumoured 2 full concerts. Nice to meet everyone!

Shouldn't they just leak the tracks now before they get an official release? The wooh is on the one!

Maybe they are waiting to see what is on the two discs of unreleased material on the PR Deluxe release and go from there and then hopefully release stuff from the same era that isn't on there? the PR Deluxe edition could be an example of what is to follow for the other albums once they will be remasterd.

. That is the only way to extract something from them. But do we assume the Estate has a strategy w.r.t. relasing all of it? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

The rerecorded version 2 of Wally is doing the rounds now .... as for the original I've never heard it

. Bootleg value is probably still high now, but it's days are definitely numbered. Now that the Universal deal is in place, in addition to whatever WB can do, the Vault sounds to be pretty exposable. Everyone will soon be getting all those songs and more...and in many cases with far better quality. . I imagine if any of those collectors hope to make any money off their stash, it will need to happen sooner rather than later. I don't think Universal has to wait for the Estate members to be sharing a Coca Cola in perfrect harmony for the releases to begin. It's certainly not that far off in any case. . . EDIT: Removed duplicated word VAULT. [Edited 2/13/17 7:22am]

Man, in all honesty, fuck all that.
I watched the Prince omnibus video for the first time the other day (seen it around a while, just never watched it) and seeing all that footage made me realise something. I don't just like Prince, I don't just revere the dude, it's not just fascination, it's obsession. That video made me so happy, and the prospect of there being hours of footage like that excites me in a weird way. I would pay a lot of money for that kind of stuff, and why, because I fucking love it.
That being said, I'm probably far from the biggest fan. There's thousands and thousands of people who get even more out of stuff like that than I do. Basically, that shit is important to us fans. And going even a step further than that, with Prince gone, it belongs to us man. That dude made this stuff for us, and it needs to be in the hands of the thousands and thousands of people who will be moved and changed for the better by it.
Fuck all these secret circles and backdoor meetings and blood oaths and shit. That shit is cool when the artist is alive, but unless I had a gun to my head, if I had a hold of this kind of stuff on April 21st or 22nd or whenever he died, I'd let it go.
Building and basking in and celebrating the legacy of Prince is more important than anything else at this point.

. They will not release it all. They will not release it soon. They will not release it often. They will not release it in complete form. Or at a nice price. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

. This thread is about Wally. How do your three points disagree with Wally? You mean carry on with how this thread is supposed to be about Wally? Yeah it would be nice to carry on about Wally.

I agree with your first 2 points wholeheartedly. I’ve always loved Prince’s lush, OTT and slightly tongue-in-cheek ballads, tracks that are just shy of sounding saccharine but speak of his sly sense of humour (International Lover, Adore etc). No one else could pull it off.
