Favorite Prince song, live song, and/or old standard

As 2017 starts, I'm scaling my org activity back to the occasional lurk mode (I got work of my own to do, and life is short). Before I go, I'd like to focus my attention back to the music (after getting caught up in threads discussing his personal life). Prince's catalog is so extensive that I get overwhelmed. I respect orgers and love to know what your favorites are. So, I know this will be hard, but what is your current favorite song, favorite old standard, and favorite live performance of a song (does not have to be the same and can be a cover).

My current favorite: Breakdown

Old standard: When Doves Cry

Live performance: Something in the Water (Manchester)

What's yours?

Go!

Love that performance of Head.

You've inspired me to be more succinct, so I've edited mine.

Current Favorite: Big City, & Strange Relationship

Old Standard: Strange Relationship

Live Performance: It's a toss up: Rehearsal of the 'hot dogs, pizza, root beer' of "DMSR", or "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad" Houston 1981.

it's funny cause technically it's a Prince song but it's associated with a protoge group. my favorite live song/standard in recent years is when he breaks out "COOL" by The Time. It's super fucking funky.

I've not heard that. Is it on an album? (I couldn't find it through a quick Internet search.)

Oh I love this idea, though mine changes pretty much daily too when I think of what is my current favourite. (Hence why we need a whole thread dedicated that really.)

Current Favourite: SST (+ Brand New New Orleans) [have been pushing repeat, sometimes twice]

Old Standard: Crazy You (always and forever really) and Lovesexy (it is the one after all)

Live: One of Us (Emancipation Release Mini-Concert from MTV) [This one was hard, I cosign all the ones above, this one is my addition to the list!]

This was on In Rock, and that was the first I'd heard of it. I forgot about him calling out "Kool and the gang" after the first lead line. haha Silly boy.

Thanks! I was sketchy about following P for awhile so I always learn something on threads like this. Gives me a starting point when sifting through music that I missed when I was looking the other way. He was just so prolific that I couldn't keep up (and it wasn't always easy since he didn't have one main website that he kept updated). And, yes, my favorites will change daily. Lately I've been interested in the last 10 years of his life, along with some of the really early stuff when I was a bit young. wink

Aug. 3, 1983 benefit concert...it resonates with me because he has a dream and hopes and he is laying it all out there..he has no idea how this night will change his life forever...there is an innocence, energy and urgency to this show that touches me every time I watch it.

Love that concert. It's the one that got me back into Prince about two years ago, after few years not paying much attention. A friend posted it and it brought me back to why I had loved him so much.

That version of Something ... Is great. I loved the entire. 2002 Xenophobia concert series. Each concert had its own unique flavor.

That cowbell slammin' on the one sounds like the apocalypse has just begun.

And what about the Blue Angel? I love the Lovesexy era guitar playing style, almost abstract, totally unabashed, and utterly personal (cf. the sempiternal but indisputable Small Club's "Just My Imagination", and the Scandalous Sex Suite's "The Rapture").
