Old standard? Nat King Cole's rendition of Stardust.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

You, Good Sir, have a taste beyond compare.
Fine choices.

A french critic noted once that he actually sings: " Come Baissss'zzz'me", I'll let you google the verb "baiser".

I love WHITECAPS.
It's like automn in Minnesota or somethin'.

And the keyboard miracle, well, it's outerwordly.
Is it Lisa playing?
Can't be a sequencer. I'd be so disappointed.

He actually shouts: "Oh! Français!", which sounds really "revolutionarily",
because to a Frenchman, it kinda sounds like a call to arms, considering France's history.
As often with Prince, it's a bit funny at the same time, because he mispronounces it and it goes out "Oh! Froncé!", which translates to "Oh! Wrinkled ones!" or "Oh! Frowned ones!". biggrin
As often with Prince, it still makes sense, if you consider the many times Frenchmen are frowned upon or are frowning at something.

The more if you throw in some SOTT slashed fuzzed riffs, it suddenly turns into a rallying cry — listen to the parisian fans echoing.
By 0:50 you're thinking "Small Club",
but by 1:16 this is spirituality that comes with a vengeance.
Scary stuff. Better listened to at 11, it sounds great, it sounds incredible.

I can't help but chuckle a smiling tear at the end of those 5 minutes.
That simple "thank U Paris, I love ya", and the doubled voice on the last guitar lead.
His voice doubling that last guitar lead.
Do you hear it?

This one goes, in my book, as one of the best live performances of our Man. Ever.
I mean the lungs, the vocal cords and the guitar strings on the constant edge of breaking,
the verses (the gospel "Uh" he makes when he steps back from the mike)...

But no one will break, hell fucking no.
He knows exactly what tune he has to sing in to challenge himself.
Listen to the best Power chords a guitar has ever spit out in the eyes of negativity @3:33.

The whole show, by the way, is tremendous ("Hey! You're crazy! Hey! She's crazy!").
One of the best ICNTTPOYM, fantastic long improes/introes, and overall an incredible spirit,
Prince and France's long lasting relationship still burning in 1998 (the "New Power Soul" year? Really?) — Yes, that year.
That show began late, late, everyone was pissed off.
And then it had to stop 3 and half hours later after beginning at 11 pm,
but only because the police kept on threatening P's management
to shut the electrics off.
It ain't called "Return To Zenith" fo' nuthin'.

Who knew Princey's Christian/Heavy Metal/Gospel
could kick, say, Guns'n'Roses rusted ass so bad?
With three chords, a sampler loop, at this sluggish BPM?

SKipper, you'll always astound me.
Your Paris live take make my guts squeezed right into God's hands.
I've seen The Dawn and it will B.
